Like the title says, does anyone have it yet? If so how do you like it and how does it rate? I also know this might be a question that will not get answered being that there are few Nextel users on this forum. hehe  But still, just thought i'd ask!
24 views and not one answer, now how'd i know that was gonna happen? lol. I guess i'll just have to assume no one has the i870.
You're pulling my leg are'nt you? lol I think there is international walkie talkie, i remember reading that somewhere but i can't remember where lol. Maybe it was in the Nextel store. :O
If there is, maybe I will have my dad in Massachusetts get me an i870 and send it over to me so I can walkie-talkie all of them on the Nextel network here in Brasil, that would be awesome. PS: Did you know that they still have the old Nextel logo, maroon with the stripes through the TEL. Sad, kinda... and I wonder if Sprint will have anything to do with them.
Gideon, there sure is.... Use the Nextel® International Walkie-Talkie service to instantly connect with other users in and between the U.S. and up to five countries. Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico and Peru. And for $10 a month you get unlimited International walkie talkie or otherwise .20 cents a minute.
I shall call Massachusetts tonight! But that doesnt mean I am getting the i870 . Probably some stupid cheap phone lol.
Lol, don't be cheap! You just said you wanted the i870! See i knew you were just pulling my leg. lol. Though the i870 is a really nice phone i am perfectly happy with my i860. I did have to go and compare the 2 though..lol..the i860 is still a little smaller than the i870 though which i like and besides i don't have an extra $450 laying around just to go and buy the next "new" thing. hehe
Lol not only do I have to be cheap this month, but Nextel Brasil doesnt have the i870 yet. In fact, they dont have a lot of new phones . -send me one!-
Is the software good, the reception, how does it look and feel, feature performance... how good is the MP3 player and camera, etc...
:lmao: I've felt it. lol That sounds so bad! lol. It's a nice phone but for some reason i can't get over the fact that it felt so plasticy. I don't know why but the one thing that i loved about the i860 is that it felt solid. To me anyway. The camera is supposed to be better on it too but i've not tried it for myself.
i got it too.. but thaanswer522, a quick question to you... how in tha hell do i get ringtones onto tha phone..? this roxio dont seem to be working for me, i dont wanna mp3 just yet, id rather some ringtones, but your help would be greatly appreciated.. email me at papiieddie@aol.com or instant message me at papii edDie
i just got the 870 and it's a super good phone. i had the i830 before this, so getting the 870, as you can imagine, is a major improvement! pros: -huge screen -great, crisp speaker -awesome camera w/flash -mp3 player is very easy to use
i just got the 870 and it's a super good phone. i had the i830 before this, so getting the 870, as you can imagine, is a major improvement! pros: -huge,clear screen -great, crisp speaker -awesome camera w/spotlight -mp3 player is very easy to use -included accessories are great -front lcd screen is awesome cons: -mp3's can't be used as ring tones -can't have a wallpaper picture on front lcd screen other than that, the phone is just a bit bulky, but it shouldn't bother anyone much unless you like razr thin phones. i love this phone though, it's worth the money!
The i870 has the best look and feel of any iDen phone I've used. I've only listened to MP3s through the speaker, and they don't sound bad. I'm sure you get better sounds through a stereo headset, though.
199.99 from getnextelnow.com (online only Partners market...249.99-50.00 credit on first invoice for subscribing to data plan). This is the best phone I have ever owned and I've had wireless service since 1996 (with over 20 different phones)! Love the MP3 player and my Moto H500 bluetooth headset works flawlessly with it. Nicest Phone Nextel has offered since the i90 - i95 Good reception, very feature rich, clear sound on 2-way speaker Can't be beat it and worth every penny Mike Oxford GA
i just ordered the i870. I need to get the bluetooth headset, but i don't know which one to get. i was thinking about getting the sunglasses with the earpiece attached, but i like my Spy glasses too much...talk to me people. lol
I don't get it.....the i870 plays MP3 but you can't use them as ringtones? Geez... when is Motorola coming up with an easy to use Nextel phone? The user interface is so behind times when compared to GSM and CDMA phones. Features, settings, etc. are all over the menus and not organized in any logical way and that makes so confusing to use. I mean that's not the only Nextel phone I've tried to use. Motorola's IDEN division really needs a lesson from their GSM division. But then again I guess I am just used to the much friendlier CDMA and GSM phones which I never need to open the manual to use all its features! Enough ranting.... I do agree the screen is awesome and the Media Player is nice and the Transflash slot is great making data cables obsolete. But can anyone tell me which audio formats can be used as ringtones? I put an MP3 in the Transflash card and then copied it to the phone hoping that it was going to be as easy as my GSM Motorola phone to use it as a ringtone. Tough luck! when I went to the ringtone menu, the MP3 was not there but I could play it in the Media Player. So if the phone can't use MP3 ringtones, what formats can it use for ringtones?
UPDATE: I did some research around the internet and this is what I came up with: - In order to use ringtones in your i870 you MUST use WebJal. The phone is barred from using anything you put in the TF card as a ringtone. - The MP3 MUST be in the following format: 8Khz sampling rate, mono, 24kbps or 32Kbps bitrate. If using Cool Edit or Adobe Audition, set to the following when saving the MP3: Convert to Mono Max Bandwidth = 4000 Hz CBR Bitrate = 24 kbps Sample Rate = 8000 Hz You can get WebJal from here: http://i870.org/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=category&id=7 Pretty disgusting limits. I'm so glad I am not with Nextel.
