Hello, as you may have heard, I bought a refurbished Motorola E815 on Ebay which is in mint condition and the seller had good feedback. What I want to ask is the battery life on the phone seems very short compared to both of my friends' E815s. Do you think the problem is the phone or does it seem like an issue with the battery?

As I recall the E815 that I had never got what I would call great battery life. I turned off the EVDO in the hidden menu which did improve the battery times slightly but not enough. Since the E815 is almost nearing the 2 year mark and the one you received is a Refurb I recommend that you swap the battery out with a new one. Also if you are in a location that has poor EVDO coverage you might want to set the phone on 1X only as I did and see if that improves the battery times at all.

How is the coverage in your area?

If your battery life is not that of your friends the two things I think is either you are in a bad coverage area or your battery needs to be replaced...and that's probably what I would do first, before worrying about the phone.

Thank you both for your help. Coverage in my area is excellent so that should not be the issue. I will look into getting a replacement battery ASAP as I am only getting about two hours of talk time at the best.

Two hours of talk time on that phone really is not bad! You could try getting a replacement battery for it, but the longest conversation I EVER remember on my E815 without being hocked up to the charger was a little over 2 hours and 10 minutes If I still remember correctly.

Interesting, I have been reading that the E815 gets around 4 hours of talk time. My old LG VX4400 got 3 hours after a full charge. I will keep monitoring my phone and keep track of the battery time.

The rated talk time for the E815 is listed as 4.67 hrs, while the standby time is listed as 280 hrs. I don't recall ever getting any more talk time than 2hrs. But one thing to keep in mind when comparing the battery times of one phone to the other is the things that can diminish it such as using certain features of your phone like downloading application, GIN, and playing games on it.
If you use more of these added features than your friends do that could be why you are not seeing the amount of time in between charges that they are.

Yeah, I read it was 4.67 hrs. as well. As for the phone's features, I never use them. It is interesting to know that you only got 2 hours talk time. Maybe I should get one of the larger extended life batteries.

If longer talk times without using the charger is important to you- an extended battery would definitely do the trick- as well as add some weight to the phone. ;)

Part of the reason why I only get 2 hrs. of talk time on the E815 is due to the fact that I like to play games on the phone during my lunch hour at work. If I cut back on that, I would imagine I'd see longer time in between charges.
