    Hi,

I just bought a Motorola W376g & am, using Tracfone & all's well, except:: Their Manual included is the worst piece of crap I have ever seen for any tech manual! I tried 2 Motorola PFD manuals I found, but it seems they pretty much copied from the one included with the phone. They have very little in it & nothing that answers my questions below!

1 - When I access the Internet, it announces with a chirp & on screen tally of how much they just deducted from my account, every what, 20 seconds & I do not want that on - can I turn that off & if so, how ?

2 - It has an annoying chirp for incoming texts - can I change that to another & if so, how ?

3 - For the list of incoming text messages, can I Save or Erase them as I look at any individual messages ? I click on Messages>Inbox & then the list appears, but the only 2 options it gives m,e is to Read or go Back - how do I Save or Delete them ?

4 - Also in Messages, there is something called Quick Notes & in mine, after 3 days, there are 10 of them - no phone #'s, no names, just messages from someone who I have no idea who it is
who sent them! What is Quick Notes & how do I Delete them ?

    For now, that's it!

thanks so much for any/all help!

Hope that helps - your menu structure may be a little different than on my L2 - it's pretty old, plus TracFone's software may be somewhat different than what was used by Cingular/at&t. But as far as I know, Moto is still using the odd (to me) method of having the center key (not the center selection "button") really be the main key that is used to access specific functionality within each main menu option. And hopefully your software will be similar enough that I will have at least sent you in the right direction. :)

hme, so many thanks for all your information as again, their manual is garbage, at least for me it is.

I'll try these suggestions over the next day or two & get back to you. I did, however, find one of the answers, albeit quite by accident! That is the ability to Save, Delete, etc. separate messages. Nowhere in their manual or the 2 pdf manuals I read online, tell one how to do so. I hit the middle Menu key by accident & up popped the options to dealing w/ messages.!

Again thanks so much for your help & will Save these for any future issues I may have, or will forget!

Merry Christmas hme, to you & yours!

Well, I'm back with a few more queries!

1 - In setting up to send as Text, what is the difference between SMS/EMS & MMS ?

2 - How in the world do I use an Upper Case letter that is NOT the beginning of a sentence ? I want to use a capital letter for a name, or to highlight a letter or word, but so far, can't do so. I cannot figure it out & again, the crap-for-manual Moto sends with it has really nothing of value in it !

Hope you all had a nice Holiday season so far!

    Thanks

For what it's worth, I am going to Copy & Paste all my questions & pass them onto to the morons at Motorola!

For some reason I'm having trouble getting a quoted response to post - so I'll just enumerate my responses.

    1) I'm not certain what EMS is, but for simple text messages choose the SMS/EMS option. MMS allows you to send photos, etc. (multi-media) with your message and you may incur a higher charge for MMS than you will for SMS. Generally SMS service (GSM) is also more reliable than MMS can be.

    2) Take a look at your "0" key. Does it have an "up" arrow? As before, it's not the most intuitive to me :) - but that's where the case change ability while within a text entry field is on my L2. It also has an indicator up in the left hand corner while in a text entry field that shows what mode you are in (i.e. "regular", all caps, all lower case). Try your "0" key while in a text entry field and if that's not it, look to see if there is an "up" arrow on another key.

And making your comments to Moto as well certainly can't hurt - even if it only makes you feel better for having done so. ;)

Thank you - I have had a nice Holiday season, and hope the same for you. Back to work tomorrow!!

Thanks again hme as that did it! yea, i doubt mo0torola cares, but at least i tried, right ? it's like a former co worker of mine, he was the first to complain about everything r: the government & i asked him once how or whom he voted for & his response ? "oh, i never vote, what for?!" ! i then told him, I never again wanted him to complain, not until he voted as i feel he has no right to complain as he never tried to effect change!

Anyway, glad your holidays went well. mine were okay, but dealing with some cancer issues so we'll see what 2011 brings.

oh, i do have another - sorry. but do you know if there's a way to create saved folders for different people's message I might want to save, i.e. Monica's messages into her folder, my cousins into his, etc.?

not a big deal either way, was just curious if possible.

enjoy this last day free from work !

    Blessings to you &yours...

You're welcome. Sorry to hear of the health issues - I hope 2011 brings positive things. :)

I don't really see a way on my L2 to create additional folders. It's not a very elegant replacement but it looks like you can change the inbox settings to sort messages by sender address rather than subject ("folder view"). Between that and "locking" the messages you want to save, you could somewhat accomplish what you are after; but with much messaging activity at all, I'm afraid your inbox will fill up and you won't be able to receive new messages due to a limited amount of phone memory.
