Hi All, I've had the chance to play around with teh SLVR L7 and took some perspective shots to show how big the handset really is. I used a 20GB iPod my nokia 6620 and a pen for reference. Here's the link: SLVR Pics I also have some perspectives of a Sony Ericsson W600i on that index too Enjoy
Performance wise it handles just like the V551 and V3 no major changes that I can notice. I am kinda partial to the Nokia/ Symbian OS and the menu structure of the SLVR is not that appealing to me, mostly because, as you can see from the pics, I upload a lot of pics right off of my 6620 and Bluetooth them in mass quantities to my PC to upload. The SLVR didn't allow a mass transfer, although if I dug a little deeper into the process I could probably find a way. But, to the average user this will not jump out at them as a feature they can readily use as it did with the Nokias picture options. Now, I'm not bashing on the Moto SLVR OS but it's just personal preference. The processor speed was almost identical, at least to the human eye, there was no lag when pressing a button and then seeing the result on screen as there is with some Sony Ericsson handsets i use but i'm not mentioning names. (Z-500, s710a). When it was first handed to me i thought the SLVR was a mini PSP. it is a very cool looking phone but I'm not ready to jump on the bandwagon just for looks.
Thank you for that report I appreciate it! Because I use the E398 right now I figured this would be a cool looking update to my phone, but I am looking for a change (SE K750i or the SHARP V903). But I am still pondering this choice. Thanks again .
Thanks for the photos Kevmo68 and welcome to WA.... i actually don't like candy bar style phones too much but the SLVR might change that, by looking at your pics i like it even more now, didn't think it was that small...
I don't like candy bar phones. That said, after using the SLVR a few weeks back I started to change my mind. The SLVR is a solid phone. I thought it fit well in your hand and didn't seem cheap for being so thin. The screen was very bright and everything seemed responsive. The external speakers were fairly decent and iTunes played at a decent quality. No special stereo headset connector available so I have yet to hear it is full promised glory. I'd still prefer a flip phone, but the SLVR I considered a solid option.
too short The continued use of non-clamshell designs for such small phones is mystifying. The microphone is nowhere near your mouth.
Re: too short The microphone is less than an inch from my mouth, which is twice as close as most bluetooth headsets microphone. A good microphone doesn't need to be directly on top of your mouth, and if it was you'd probably complain about how distorted it sounded.
I often see post about candy bar phones and users complaining about the mouthpiece not being close enough to their mouth, but like you said Bono they don't realized that with a good quality microphone it doesn't need to be..
On my SE T68i, the mic was half-way up to my ear, over my cheek, and the audio was incredible! A tad more bg noise I admit, but not much. Good mic on that phone.
I'm with you Tony, I don't really like candy bar phones but man that SLVR looks awesome. I think I may be switching to the SLVR when it comes out!
Anyone know when the release date for the SLVR is?? I've been trying to get info on this for awhile, and I’m correct in assuming that Cingular will be carrying this phone.
Some handsets are already for sale on E-Bay, not sure about Cingular's release date. > http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorola-SLVR-L7-V8-NEW-UNLOCKED-in-sealed-box_W0QQitemZ5832251921QQcategoryZ64355QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
