    Still hearing Q4 2005 or Q1 2006 from different places. That probably means Q1 2006, sorry.:O

One more Question, if you dont mind. I had read on another forum, that either VZW or Mot, were going to make it difficult to install 3rd party apps. Any info on that?

    TIA

No specifics, but knowing Verizon it's probably going to be difficult to add software they don't want you to have or software that you don't have to pay them for.

I had actually thought he was referring to the "RAZRberry", but that also seems to be something different than what was referenced in that presentation. Also - "Glowing PEBL"?

Sound like they have some sort of faceplate or cover for the PEBL with soft light. Probably some sort of OLED (organic light-emitting diode) technology. I don't like things that glow, I like a status light and that's it. The crazy lights on the e310? Not having it. If I get a PEBL, I'll just get the straight black one, thank you.

When it comes to new Verizon phones, no news is bad news. Anyone hear anything on this one?

Is this still the target? It did just get FCC approval.

    Thanks

Until certain parties who shall remain nameless give us a heads-up, this may mean nothing more than VZW is holding the Q for the next big trade show. Most new cell phone announcements come at industry-specific trade shows, not 'generalist' trade shows like CES.

I don't believe that to be the case. Verizon is still very much interested in Q.

Q hasn't been cancelled and is currently in testing at Verizon.

The release date should be after the Pink RAZR and before the PEBL release.

Any interesting scuttlebutt on the PEBL? (Specifically, and I know I'm probably beating a dead horse, but...will it run the VZW UI or the Moto UI?)

Ummm... before the PEBL release? This is the first I've heard of VZW getting the PEBL. Can you shed any more light on this, bono?

I heard that there will be a "PEBL" style phone for Verizon but watered down compared to the GSM version. I don't know specifically what won't be included only that it will be the same form factor. No idea when something like this would be released.

That sums it up well. It will look like a PEBL but be targeted toward the low end. The good news is that even "cheap" phones will come with features many phones already out don't even have.

I'd imagine we will learn more about Moto's CDMA lineup at CTIA this spring.

Aw, for the love of...why is it the words "Verizon" and "watered-down" seem to be going together so often lately?

Bono - when is CTIA this year?

Other carriers will also get "watered-down" versions of PEBL. It is a core design for Moto. You will see low tier RAZR and SLVR phones shortly also. There will also be phones based on a design, but different in their own way. Moto will play with their core products more than just rolling out new colors, although right now that is all they have done.

CTIA will be first week of April. GSM event is a few weeks earlier. I'm sure some phones will be announced but the real suprises and the next generation RAZR will probably be a closely guarded secret.

Today Moto confirmed the Q will come to Europe and to the US this year in some variant of the current Q. There will be GSM and a UMTS (or some high speed protocol) version.
