OK, I'll bite. Whats so special about the V60e, which I never heard of? Or is that the stun-gun model? And why wont this line of phones die? Should be the V60J: Jason Vorhees line. Look at it this way, there are only so many letters in the alphabet, only 20-plus more v60 models to go!
The "v60e" in Cop's picture there is really just the v60x, which you're already familiar with. The other "v60e" that used to be discussed here was the color screen version, which never made it to mass production. Personally, I don't want the line to die, I view the v60 as the modern day startac series. It'll be around for a year or two more atleast I expect.
I personally think the "T" series (*t720) are the modern day startac -gone wrong- and hopefully they'll stop producing the V series after the v60p stops in production. Maybe moto will get their act together in their US market one day.
They're both like the startac, dammit. Moto will keep producing new versions of both of these phones forever, and we will all be forced to move to Korea if we want anything new.
HERE'S WHAT I SUGGEST: Anoyone who gets a v60p should run and report battery performance to us here. Test both the 800 mAh battery that comes with the phone as well as the phenominal 700 mAh slim that came with the v60i. According to the v60p spec sheet @ VZW, here's how the larger included battery compares to the slim v60i battery: Battery Capacity mAh -- Talk -- Standby -- Model 700 -- 245 -- 220 -- v60i 800 -- 155 -- 55 -- v60p All of your front and back plates will fit the v60p. I'm sure that many of us are waiting to read battery life reports befoe making a purchase decision. There have been lote of reports that the v60p's battery life is far INFERIOR to that of the v60i. IMHO, the 700 slim in a v60i is the BEST power management I have ever used. How does it really line up against the v60p in non-PTT, non-speakerphone use? Just plain old cellular from full charge to dead? Let us know!
I don't know if the rumors are true about people getting fired for selling these phones early so I don't want to say where I got them. I'll just say it's in NY close to the NJ border. I had no problem buying two of them. BTW, the cases Verizon is selling for them suck big time. Don't bother. And YES the phone works as a speaker phone (a great speaker phone to be exact) without PTT service (which I opted not to get.) The voice dialing is also fantastic and you can also a phone conversation, as well as voice memos. I'm very happy... I only wish I knew how to transfer ringers to it.
Again, RCFUZZ, I ask you.... WHat VZW location allowed you to get the hardware without the PTT rate plan? I'd like to see if they'll do the same for me.....
I was just told that I SHOULD NOT buy the V60p without the PTT service without a PTT service agreement. I was told that without PTT on my plan, I would incurr "megabit access charges". The charges occur every five minutes when the phone accesses the network. I assume that this is a feature that cannot be disabled. Is this true or false?
OK, I bought it from the Verizon store at the Palisades Mall in Nyack, NY on Friday. I had no problem buying it and keeping my current plan - for both phones I purchased. They also gave me a form for a $100 rebate if I mail them my old phone.
I don't deny that people are buying the phone and staying with their non-PTT plans. I am questioning whether or not the store is accurate when they say that I would be charged for data access that would otherwise be included if I had a PTT service agreement.
When I talked to the people at the VZW store as I was buying my V60p they said the phone should be sold without PTT maybe in a month or so. But the guy said right now they are trying to push the PTT over the top since it was officially released today. Makes sense though because they want to get PTT really rolling on the market.
