    Hi,

I'd like to know the best way to use data for web and email that does NOT require a contract. I would be willing to use a monthly plan iof it could be shut off most of the time and only activated when I need it. I only use the phone one month in the year :)

    Is there such a thing?

I'm currently with T Mob on a prepaid SIM. Last I checked data wasn't possible. Suggestions ?

    thx,

I know Verizon has a monthly data only plan... you get unlimited data and unlimited messaging for $35/month. However, in order to get the no contract, you have to pay full retail for the phone or use your own compatible equipment. Also, If you want email, you have to pay an extra $5.00/month. Voice is forty cents a minute, but you dont care to talk :p

On T-Mobile, if you have the prepaid service (but not FlexPay), then you cannot get unlimited data. You would have to sign up for FlexPay (no credit check, monthly prepaid) or get traditional monthly service. The Flexpay plans mirror the monthly contract offerings. You have to pay full price for the phone or bring on your own. From what I have seen, the unlimited data only plans are ideal if you want a BlackBerry or a Sidekick... if you get the BB, you will have unlimited data and email on the flexpay/monthly offering.
