I looked in your help guide and I noticed all of the rankings...but they only go up to senior member. How many posts does it take to become a moderator? 500? 1,000? The guide doesn't mention it.
Well just be a considerate poster and if you hang out here alot, and maybe you will become one someday. It's not based on post count.
Sorry folks, achieving a certain number of posts does not get anybody to moderator status. New moderators are selected with input from the current moderators when the need for more moderators arises.
Actually, I think it is a VERY good thing that Moderator status is not ascribed to someone based upon posts. Hypothetically, someone with 2000 posts can be judged to be less mature, less of an asset to the community, less competent or whatever than someone with 100, 200, or 500 posts.
-stutters- th....e we..b..b mm.mm.mmmaster has graced us with his presence! <Bows to the webbie> Does brown nosing count toward your "points"?
I have to agree just handing that out after a number of posts wouldnt be smart the forum would be in chaos !
I agree, it should be voted on/picked by the current mods. Someone could come in here and start posting nothing but garbage, reach 1000 or whatever and be of NO asset as a mod, might even hurt the community.
Either that or staying on the computer all day watching/looking for threads to reply to as to rack up the posts. OOOOOhhhh look im almost @ 200! just a few more to go...
I agree. Thanks for pointing me to this thread Xpert. I understand how "we" can become moderators, and, I hope to see your posts! --J.T
The webmaster and us current moderators get to decide who becomes a new moderator. So anyone who wants to become a future moderator should keep that in mind.
I don't see why everyone is so anxious to kiss up to the moderators and why everyone wants to become one. *continues polishing Larry's boots with his tongue* Will that be enough shine sire or shall I continue until you can see yourself in them?
Dont you just love the craving for social status? Well, i do ^_^ and definetely by the looks of it, a great mass of other members do too. How about having another level for users who have 500 posts or more? Like "Veteran Member" for 500 posts "Pro Member" for 700 and more posts and "Elite Member" for 1000+ It may also increase the popularity of the website due to these factors: *People who hang around the longest are more likely to recommend the site to other people. *Older members have been around the site and forums and keep up with information on a regular basis, minimizing the trash threads and innacurate information. *members seem to leave after they achieve the Senior Member status and have nothing else to look forward to except Mod status and thats achievable at a certain point, hence you dont find people who have been around longer than a year in most cases. *It makes it more fun and challenging? Just an suggestion ^_^
I agree with Cop, that is a good idea. I think it would help promote users to stay around and bring in new members. How about "God" status for 10,000 posts? *LOL*
I am a long time poster to this web site and was wondering when there will be another new moderator. I am feeling a little discouraged from posting information/helping others out. I feel that I would be a asset as a moderator Jack
While I agree with that statement I think that being a long time poster and giving support to many users should gain me moderator status. Jack
Jack, I agree with your statement as well, but also Cop's. I think it would encourage users like myself to want to aid others, and just see how far they can get on the social latter of WA.com Just my 3 cents. --J.T
JT My thing is that I have been here awile and have been know to give good information to others only to be passed up for moderator status to someone who is newer. It's not fair Jack
I agree with Matt, "You should never feel discouraged from helping others". The last thing WA needs is to have a "social ladder" for members to climb. All these great discussions on this forum would be replaced with threads full of flaming (like HoFo) if WA would implement such a thing. I recently moved back to SoCal and the whole social ladder thing is so prevalent, I just love the I'm better than you are attitued. WA and its give & take style is perferct IMO.
