As per many requests.... I just added a mobile device optimized skin called WA Mobile Skin.

Look in the lower left corner of the screen for a pull-down menu chooser.

Let me know what you think ..... post here w/ your mobile device to test it.

This skin makes it much easier to view on my Nokia E70-2.

When I try to post using my E70-2 with the mobile skin, it says I'm not authorized to do so and makes me login (again) then it says "invalid thread specified - contact administrator"?

This happened while trying to post to this thread just now, and also on Friday night while trying to post to the "Milestones" thread. :( I can post at the WAP site using my E70 - but I can only see WAP subscription posts from there and the typing box is much larger on the mobile skin - so I'd like to be able to use it. :D

OK, maybe I am doing something wrong. I don't see the menu in my mobile browser. I do see it in Firefox on my desktop. Choosing "WA Mobile Skin" instantly changes the layout in Firefox but there is no change in the G1 browser.
I tried logging out and logging in again. No effect.

Joe, got to the bottom left from the regular site. There is a pull down menu with the default set at WA 2007 screen, open this up & choose the "WA Mobile Skin".

Keep in mind this is a mobile friendly version of the regular site & has nothing to do with the WAP site.

    Let me know? :)

Thanks Charlyee, I found that on the PC version and not sure what the hype was. I personally did not like it, I thought there was a version for Mobile phones which I did not see on my SE. :)

Joe, that is the version for Mobile phones not for use from your PC, you have to be in the regular version on your SE to access it.

That is the version I usually post in from my Treo, including now. I haven't used the WAP version ever since the Mobile Skin came about.

OK, thanks, now I see how to use it. It does make quoting previous posts in replies easier (AFIK, that does not work on wa00), but other than that, I'm not sure that I like it.
    - the layout/design does not seem as easy to read as on wa00.
    - the User CP and Home screens in this version do not seem as useful. They don't seem to list subscribed forums, for example.

Perhaps I just need to get used to the new layout. I will give it a few days.

I was about to reply for those same reasons Steve, I miss the subscribed threads and as you can see posting to a thread is not as easy, other than what you said if you quote.

Joe, all your subscribed threads are in your user CP at the top of the screen.

I am not sure why you find posting to a thread not easy w/o quoting, all you have to do is type your reply in the rectangular box at the end of the posts and hit "submit reply" just like the regular site.

Steve, the Mobile Skin is a replacement for the regular site not for the WAP. It is however, a lot better than the WAP. Here are some of it's advantages over the WAP site for me:

    1. You can view all the new posts since the last visit not just new topics.

    2. You can view all the subsribed posts.

    3. You can view all the Private Messages not just the inbox.

    There are many more. :)

IMHO, the Mobile Skin is meant to make faster & easier browsing of the regular site from a mobile device & does just that. It needs some tweaking ofcourse ;)

The 'Mobile Style' called 'WA Mobile Skin' is an add-on package to the forum software. Recently the forum software had a major version update. The developer that made the Mobile Style has not updated his package yet. There are a few features that will not work correctly until that update comes out. I know many people are lobbying for an update, and I will install it as soon as it is released.

The Mobile Style is according to the developer "A very cut back style with very low bandwidth usage which renders well on pretty much all small screen devices from old Nokias to new iPhones"

It may not include 100% of the functionality of the regular forum.

More PM functionality is good. I had not noticed that.

Maybe I'm not using subscription right, but I subscribe to forums, not to threads. I would rather not see the whole list of forums, just the ones I read regularly. WA00 has a home page with a "My Forums" link. I find this useful.

Thanks for the update Joe. I really like the mobile skin and actually prefer this when posting from my BB Bold rather than the WAP version of the site.

As I browse the forum on my SE with the new Mobile Skin I am starting to like it very much. I like how it fits on the screen of my SE and the blue and black colors make the web browsing easy to read. The 760 has an accelerometer which Is a nice touch, it makes the screen look fuller. Nice job Joe.:)

    Joe -

Do you mean me? I'm glad the Mobile Skin is working for you, but I can take zero credit for it. It is made by a 3rd party developer....all I did was change a few colors. ;)

Hey, wait a minute don"t I credit for bringing the Mobile Skin to your attention and more importantly convincing you to give it a try. :p
Well if you changed a few colors the credit can't be "zero". :D.

Hey - wait a minute - don't I get credit for it kicking me out so that I'd post here so that he'd ask what all the hoopla was about and then you'd get to bring it to his attention and convince him to give it a try? :p :D

I tried again last night - still kicked me out when I tried to post, and then I even tried to send a PM from it this afternoon. It said I don't have permission for that function either. :(

Yes you definitely get the top billing, sorry for missing that. :D.

I do hope that the updates Joe is talking about will take care of your problem, I absolutely don't buy the "Blue vs Orange" cop out answers. :p

    I hope so too! :)

Keep in mind, the Blue/Orange comment was just my own extension of "possible reasons" why "the Other E70" works and my E70 doesn't. LOL. But I don't buy it much either - seems to me I don't have permission for anything other than "read only" on the mobile skin.

Testing - this is with OperaMini and the Mobile Skin. Lol. I think it may have just worked for a PM. :)
