Wirelessly posted (T-Mobile: Nokia6101/2.0 (03.39) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1) Does Mobile Web work when roaming off Verizon or when roaming in Canada?
Moble Web is only available on the Verizon Wireless network and not on any Extended/Roaming areas. Data is only available off the Verizon network if you're using a data card or a smartphone.
Taken from Verizon's website: If I am roaming throughout the country, can I still use Mobile Web? ** Yes as long as you are in a Verizon Wireless digital area, you will be able to use Mobile Web. Mobile Web terms & conditions link: Terms & Conditions Verizon Wireless coverage locator: Coverage Locator - Verizon Wireless
Re: Mobile Web when roaming I couldn't reach Verizon's web site, but as usual, WA users have the answer. Having Mobile Web work while roaming would make it a value-added service, but I guess the technology doesn't permit it.
Re: Mobile Web when roaming More like Verizon not allowing it to work... I have Alltel's prepaid service and I'm able to use their Mobile Web while using Sprint and Verizon towers... the technology exists, it's Verizon not allowing plain phones access to nonVerizon towers for data (besides TXT).
Re: Mobile Web when roaming Seems like a no-brainer. More $$$ for them if they allowed it. I actually removed Mobile Web from my Verizon service because I had to reactivate an older phone (the newer phone was defective and Verizon wouldn't do anything about it - even though it was still under warranty), but because the older phone had a primitive browser, 1/2 of the web sites couldn't be viewed and it became a waste of money.
Verizon does have data roaming agreements with a lot of CDMA carriers, but they simply don't allow data roaming on feature phones, because they don't wanna $$$ data roaming charges, unless you pay for a data plan or have an air card.
No offense but verizon is really lacking on this one. I love having data roaming even though it is 1x speed at least it is something.
I won't hold my breath for EVDO roaming either although Sprint and Alltel have EVDO roaming in place LOL I agree with TMobile's slogan: STICK TOGETHER... Verizon needs to get their data roaming agreements going with their CDMA cohorts
Verizon has at least as many data roaming agreements (if not more) than Sprint has in place. The difference is that Verizon doesn't allow data roaming on Feature phones, just on data devices and air cards. They are sticking together with their cohorts or whatnot, but Verizon simply does not allow data roaming for everyone.
and that makes data roaming worthless to simple handset customers.............VZW subs dont care what Verizon has but what Verizon is offering..........there is a serious difference................with Sprint..............wherever there is an agreement............all subs have access
I also feel privileged since I have a Q... too bad I cant roam on other EVDO networks. But I'll take what I can get for now. Most folks don't pick a provider based on data... I never envisioned myself using data when I first signed up for Verizon back on 2005; now, I am spending $36 for data access. I tried the Mobile web a few times, but I felt trapped between the red bars and the somewhat limited PCS only (in terms of coverage) network in my area. I probably would have spent the money for mobile web but I didn't feel that it was all that functional because of BREW.
T-Mobile listens to its customers. They asked for the tape icon to be displayed when they have voicemail. T-Mobile changed the voicemail system and there is the icon. They also asked for international roaming on prepaid, they received that too. Is Verizon that bad that they don't listen to their customers? Heck, they will not even fix/repair/flash/replace my Nokia 2128i. 79 days until my Verizon agreement expires...
you know the beauty of a Myspace is that you can make countdowns for virtually anything.........i just put one up for the end of my contract :lmao:
Verizon listens to its customers and has made several adjustments over the past year on suggestions from customers.
I want my phone fixed/replaced, they will do neither. Did they listen to this customer? No. Did they stop working for me? Yes. 77 days until my Verizon contract expires and I see no valid reason to stay with them.
I guess everyone needs to remember things are on a single case basis nothing is going to be the same for everyone. Good or bad
I really dislike going off-thread with it, but since they couldn't do anything with it, why couldn't they have replaced it with something else? Legally, the phone is still under warranty.
The phone (Nokia 2128i) does not have a fully-functioning roaming indicator. When the phone is on another Verizon system, the phone is to display "Verizon Wireless". Instead, the phone displays nothing more than a roaming triangle, which it should only do if roaming on another network (non-Verizon) or when in another country. *#837* on some Nokia CDMA phones, will display the software and PRL information. This information indicates: Code: ERI: None ERI = extended roaming indicator. The ERI was not programmed into the phone when it left the facility. Although the local Verizon store has the "Nokia plug" as they called it, their computers do not have the software that would presumably fix this problem. If they never had the software, then perhaps they shouldn't have offered this model in the first place. I intend to use this issue when canceling the service.
its a very good argument and with all the restrictions they put on phones i suggest you just get out of there while you can..........come to Sprint its warm and cozy over here in the club
Although my agreement with T-Mobile ended, I am keeping the T-Mobile service. If something goes wrong with a phone, I can switch phones on a whim. Plus their customer service is better than Verizon, based on my own experiences.
i think Tmo and VZW are vying for the top when it comes to CS..................they're both very friendly and effective
So your ERI/Roaming indicator doesn't work and you want Verizon to do what? They can't duplicate the problem in Your Home area, and it really is not that big of a deal with today's no roaming plans. I don't see your point, sorry.
