I'm totally curious about this. I never thought about it as I'm looking at my itouch ipod- which unless it's a mac virus I don't think it can get them. They use to say cell phones couldn't get viruses--but I'm not too sure about that. If they can--what the heck do you do about it???
There have been limited cell phone viruses. The best thing to do is not install apps from untrusted sources, and don't download attachments from anyone you don't know. In most cases I believe a hard reset cures the problem.
Jay's right. Avoid untrustworthy apps. Mobile phone viruses are becoming a more common problem, just like with PC's.
They were just talking about android virus software on the local news this morning. I think it was this one: Lookout
Actually there are some flaws in Android's security that are known as of Defcon where they were released in the form of a rootkit, these flaws highlight the possibility that there are other holes that could easily be exploited for infection. But the reality is, like iPhone a hard reset would reload the stock image and as such wipe any virus. More important to watch out for is spyware as was stated above.
