Well, found 3 microTacs and they all work (ones new). just need to get it activated. I plan to write the esn of my current phone to it (samsung a310) cause im not getting another contract and i need a 3watt phone anyways. got the mot6.6 program and a 386 to run it. Was wondering if anyone done it before, and what should i do if i got a firmware of 9308.
That seems to be a lot of work considering they are going to start dismantling the analog network on Feb 18. Even if you can change the phone's ESN (Which we do not support on these forums because its illgeal in the US) the phone will not work reliably 8 weeks from now. Verizon and Cingular (ATT) have already expressed their intention to shut down their analog networks as soon as the Feb 18 date passes. Chances are that after the shutdown date set by the FCC you probably won't find service. -Jay
i know, thats why i wana use them while i still can. and from what i heard verizon and altel plan to keep analog in the waste lands (rual areas) because it not worth replacing them with digital towers since there is hardly any people there to use them. So i wont surprised if i still get sevice after feb 18
PETROCOM - ANALOG wonder if i can activate an analog here. world wide roaming too! some other country got to have analog. I just need this to work cause i live in an area were digital sucks, cdma- 0-2 bars, gsm-0-1bar analog-1-4. Realy need the 3 watts of power out here. and no, im not carrying an antenna or an amplifier on my back. :browani:
Again, it doesn't matter what you do to get an analog phone activated. You need to call the analog providers in the area you plan to be using the phone and ask them if they are going to continue analog service after Feb 08. If all of the analog providers say they are shutting down then your phones will not work. If you really need service in out of the way places have you considered satellite phones? -Jay
little expensive... well i'll see what happens after the 18, if i get service, its petrocom. if i dont i ducttape a soda can to my cdma phone. :browani:
well did some reading, by law they must have analog in my area because digital is not fully enstablished in my area. the analog signal is better than the digital. by law there must be some form of cellular tecnology in the area were analog is, if there is, the cellular company may shut off the analog network. the digital signal must be equal or higher before the can phase out amps in my area. sssoooooo, by law i must be able to use the current amps network util they make the digital network equal to the analog coverage wise. well for all those wondering about analog in there area, i'll break it down. If you have both analog and digital, and digital service covers the same or greater amount of area, the cellular company may shutdown there analog network if you have both analog and digital or analog only and analog is covers greater area than digital or analog is the only avalible technology, than by law, analog must be kept running.
