I spoke with a friend of mine in Houghton Michigan and he said that Alltel has now gone digital up there. Does anyone know what SID Alltel uses up there? I am on Verizon's American Choice plan and I'm wondering if i'll be charged for roaming up there....I believe that Verizon uses Alltel's towers when I'm home in Traverse City, but I'm not sure what the SID there is. Has anyone had any experience with that?

I know that the areas show as roaming for the upper peninsula on the America's Choice plan, but I heard that alltel is using the same SID in the entire state when they switch an area to digital.

    Thanks

Alltel's SID# is 244 wherever Alltel is digital. You will definitely be charged for roaming in the Upper Penninsula if you have Verizon's America's Choice. America's choice does not cover N.E. Lower Michigan or the Upper Penninsula. So in other words, you can roam on Alltel in N.W. Lower without paying for roaming, but if you are anywhere else on Alltel's network you have to pay. Yes, it does not make much sense.

I beg to differ. Please check out my new topic "America's Choice Expands in MI".
