    Hi, I am not sure about your question. If the phone is locked and you have the unlock code from TM, then what you need to do is to put in a different provider's SIM and then enter the unlock lock, which if I remember is an 8 or 9 digit number.

    The code you are typing, this doesnt unlock your phone's SIM, I think it activates field test mode :confused:.

    Step 1. Put in someone else's SIM (just borrow a Cingular SIM if you have to).
    Step 2. Turn on the phone.
    Step 3. When prompted, put in the unlock code (there may be a message saying "INVALID SIM" with an option to unlock.
    Step 4. Profit!

    I just double checked my Motorola stuff and Gideon is right. Menu 073887* is a shortcut code to activate field test mode on Motorola cell phones. IF SOMEONE TOLD YOU IT IS AN UNLOCK CODE DON'T USE IT! After 5 failed attempts your phone will only be able to be unlocked with a data cable.

    Hi, Here is how I unlocked my Motorola Razr V3i.

    The MENU button that T-mobile talks of is the "topmost center" key (generally has a pattern of "horizontal lines").

    I also tried to use the Center circular button many times and it didn't work. With the top button you don't even have to do it very quickly. Just press the sequence in normal speed.

    MENU -> 073887*
    Security code: 000000
    then choose "unlock sim" option

    and you'd be able to use your phone overseas. :)

    hope this helps,
    -gans

    That is not true. MENU 073887* opens up the programming menu on my U6 PEBL and other menus, like field test mode, on my v620, as GideonH posted almost two years ago.

    Since the OP's question was answered and this thread is dead, I am locking it.
