Good job Charlyee!! The pictures certainly looked impressive, even though I have only a dim idea of what you did. I know what a breaker and a transformer are, but I'm only familiar with the kinds that you can hold in your hand. If I ever need to supply power to a factory or a city, I guess I know who to call.

and what the heck is a pulling pit ?!?

Ryan, Joe, Larry, Jay, Gamer. Mike, Yankess, Dmapr, thank you very much. I had a great team of technicians to work with and it was a lot of fun together with a lot of blood sweat & tears. :)
Steve, thank you. Ah a "pulling pit". It is a hole in the ground about 10-15' deep that provides access to the underground cables. When the cables are pulled fropm point to point, a person goes down inside to guide the cables through the duct openings. It is considered a "confined space" and we require special permits, adequate personal protection, a first responder and the fire brigade on stand by. The pit is also checked for potential toxic gases before a person can enter it. We have to pass confined space training before we can sign off on the permit. We have 15 such pits prtesently in use.

Btw, the they are commonly called "manholes", which I always thought was appropraite since no women would be dumb enough to go down in them. :D

PS: I also managed to be on WA through all of it and fill pork casings to make 61lbs of polish sausages at our annual "Polish Sausage Making". :)

Congratulations budney. Keep up the good work.

Congratulations Wiggy. Keep it up and I am sure you will get better about it. :) I switched from regular Coca Cola to Diet Coke a few years back and now I can tell when the waiter or waitress messes up and gives me regular Coke. Also I only drink Diet Coke at dinner a few times per week.

Actually I think that will be my next accomplishment, to make some bloodwurst :browani:

I have actually had two types of Bloodwurst. In Granada, Spain, I had the morcilla. To my surprise I found that morcilla has no meat at all just lard, blood, bread like filler, and spices. I had it as tapa, cut into slices, fried in olive oil and put on bread. It was very good but then again, anything cooked in olive oil usually is, specially when washed down with a couple glasses of vino tinto. ......LOL.

The other kind was the traditional Blutwurst in Frankfurt, and this had a lot of meat and spices and I loved the taste of it.

Which kind does your father make?

Wow, I didn't know they ate them in Spain. Apparently it's more popular than I though:
Black pudding - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

My dad makes the Estonian version "Verivorst". It's similar to the German one but has barley and tastes better :D Usually wrapped in bacon and served with sauerkraut and a kind of cranberry sauce. Yum. :yumyum:

Well I will toot my own horn here too. I graduated one week ago today from a 4.5 week program, and am now officially a Class A CDL Driver. I was the only female in my class, but still managed to survive.

I finished with a 97% academics, and 96% skills grade, so I'm quite proud of myself.

Congratulations Ashley. That is very impressive. My friend who moved back up to Long Island with his fiancé was going to sit for the written test sometime this summer. He has been practicing with his dad's business partner's dump truck and other heavy machinery for the past several years.

Thank you very much guys! Honestly, it wasn't as hard as I had originally thought it'd be. The backing is the hardest, other than that tho, the biggest thing was just getting used to being in control of such a HUGE vehicle...

I drive a Ford Fusion, you can imagine what it was like getting behind the wheel of a semi and a 48' Trailer...

Well I see that you'll be tooting one of those big loud horns. ;) Congratulations! Please just remember to not tailgate at highway speeds like some of your colleagues do. I'm all for saving gas, but not at the expense of safety. Enjoy your new license and accomplishment.

Hang onto that tightly, it's a career! I hold a CDL-B from my outside plant technician years with the phone company, in case I need a fourth career. My daughter and I held learners' permits at the same time, for car and truck. While she was out on the road test, I passed the time on HAZMAT endorsement, and am keeping that up as well. (A retest is required at renewal, done twice.)

This coming renewal at age 55 in December (TN has a five year cycle) I know I can pass the test again. What has me thinking is getting the newly required TSA background check for holding the endorsement. (Yes, I've led a clean life but it costs $170.)

So, see the USA from your Peterbuilt, White, Mack, GMC, Renault or something else!

Right now it's a Freightliner, but we're hoping to buy our own pretty soon. We're leasing this one, and we'd like to own a Volvo.

I am pretty lucky because I wasn't a "stupid teenager" who got in trouble. I have a perfect record. I joke that my MVR is a waste of ink and paper.

I don't currently have my Hazmat endorsement. I do have tankers, and doubles and triples, but my fiance does not have his Hazmat, so I figured at this time with us running team it wouldn't make alot of sense for me to have mine. But we are planning on going to get it together soon.
