Not to sound negative but I had a previous V3 and although a very nice phone my V551 has better RF and seems to drop less calls, hopefully that has improved with the newer version.:)

Nothing wrong with Transflash as a format - but admittedly the 100-song limit in iTunes is something of a bummer. The lack of EDGE probably relates to the chip issue we learned about a while ago, so no real surprise there.

Viewfly - not only with the CDMA version not include iTunes, but VZW's version will run the VZW standardized UI (aka "VZWRed", although people have reported seeing non-red variants lately), so it won't even have Moto's familiar UI.

Ah there is a good reason for the lack of EDGE. It all makes sense now. Thanks for the reminder ;).

    Ouch... bummer about that.

I'm going to put aside the fact that you fail to realize you're not pecking out a text message, and that it's still polite to type the words "why" and "you". I'm also going to put aside the fact that you misspelled the name of your home town in your sidebar profile (unless you really live in "Detorit").

What I am going to address is your larger question, which is a fair one. Why not switch? I'll tell you why. Switching involves more than simply jumping ship for a 'better' phone. You're taking risks regarding number porting and coverage issues, not to mention the fact that calls that were once mobile-to-mobile will start costing you daytime minutes again. (To prove the point, I've considered switching from VZW to Cingular on a number of occasions, but the fact that 99% of the people I call most often are also on VZW stopped me.) When you switch networks, you're signing a contract, and unless you've got a pile of money wadded up into convenient $175 piles, the average person can't afford to just jump from carrier to carrier at will.

As far as the phone selection - since you're a T-Mobile customer, you may not be aware of the restrictions that VZW has been placing on their phones (which some have referred to as "crippling", sometimes accurately, sometimes not). You also may not be aware that, as I mentioned above, VZW is moving toward a standard user interface across every phone they sell, save for the PDA/Smartphones. For those of us who are accustomed to using, say, the Motorola interface, that's a big deal - not to mention the fact that all reports indicate that VZW's UI effectively closes the holes that would have allowed seem editing and the like. For fans of choice and customization, this is bad news.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with TransFlash as a format. It's done fine by me in my V710. One of the major complaints regarding the CDMA RAZR is that there is no expansion card slot like on the new V3i GSM model. If you carry a lot of MP3 ringtones, use your phone as an MP3 player in any capacity, or take a lot of pictures with the onboard camera and don't want to burn all your non-iN PIX messages, removable storage is key, especially since the 30/40MB on the RAZR will be shared across all applications, including VCast.

The 100-song limit in iTunes, as I mentioned earlier, is a function of the software. I don't know why people are getting so excited about it, anyway - all reports say that the ROKR didn't work too well, and since there hasn't been an upgrade release for the Moto version of iTunes, there's no reason to expect that the RAZR v3i will fare much better. It's certainly not enough to warrant jumping carriers.

Put simply, the problem is this: the perception is that VZW (and CDMA in general) is behind the curve on getting the 'cool' phones - and when they DO arrive, VZW puts all kinds of restrictions in place to limit the user (and generate money for the company). The reality is that a lot of that is true, but VZW has the kind of coverage in place to make the cell phone as ubiquitous as the landline phone; whereas Cingular and T-Mobile may have the 'cooler' phones, the ____tail of coverage issues, customer service glitches, and growing pains (especially since the CingulATT merger) means that you could end up with a really 'cool' brick with a 'No Service' display, depending on where you are.

I meant switching from Nokia 6230 to Moto Razr, V3i, not leaving Cingular which has been great for me.

The main reason is the lack of high speed EDGE in the Razr phones. It makes a big difference for data transfers and web browsing.

Well, you have made 1 point, about the Transflash, and .1% of a point about the Itunes. Well.. lets see, to start off.. im a student in high school, IN DETORIT!, trasflash i wasnt bsing about, this is the V3i not the V3c.. V3c = Verizion, V3i GSM..... (i think). .... You can get out of ANY contract, go on google. I got out of my T-Mobile one in the middle of the contract. .. Then i got out of my nextel one. yea. Fight this.:browani:

Ok I'm not even a Mod and I feel like I have to do something... don't try to start a "flame-war" with Critic just because you feel like being the young, smart kid... because it isn't working. If you want to start some fun little arguments, pay a visit to HoFo.

This is the reason I stay away from HoFo. Reading these forums is much more enoyable when the poster uses correct grammar.

Also, I wouldn't listen to anything anyone said using that kind of grammar. I'm glad you guys don't put up with that kind of crap.
