Hello. I would be so grateful for any help anyone can give. I moved to Medford OR from Sacramento CA a year ago to help my elderly parents. I've been with TMobile for at least five years and have been thrilled with their customer service, the best of any company I've dealt with. Signal, however, is almost impossible in my parents' home. Outdoors is fine but inside, almost impossible to make a call. I have a RAZR V3. Tmobile has told me a Nokia would get better reception. However, my DAd has a Nokia with Cingular and his signal is only slightly better. Is there another type of phone that would get satisfactory reception, or maybe an amplifier, or should I plan to reluctantly leave TMobile? If so, who has the best reception in Medford, ZIP code 97504? If anyone can help I would be eternally grateful!

Well you can propably get a signal repeater which can help you in house issue. There are some that are dual band and some that are single band and if you want to get one that helps your T Mo account you would need to get the 1900 band one. BAsed on the WA it looks like in your zip code Cingular only uses the 850 band and if you want to make a diference for both then I would get the dual. The repeaters can run from $200 for the single band up to 500+ for the dual band one but that will cover the whole house and you do not need to attach any thing to your phones.

Now as to the using the Nokia instead, my thought is that it will not help as the Razr does equal if not even better the Nokia in reception and your Dad's Nokia is doing better as it is working on the 850 band which has a stronger penetration capability.

Amplifiers are expensive, and unless you are really really tied in with one company for some reason I would suggest weighing in your options for a service that works better at your house. T-Mobile is out, looks like Cingular is out too because service isn't good, so I guess we are looking at either Sprint or Verizon. They both have a trial period where you can try out coverage/features.

Thank you all so much for your helpful advice. I'm going to maybe see if I can scrape together the money for the dual band, or maybe hang in there until July when my Tmobile contact expires.

I really appreciate you for taking the time to reply!
