I don't remember the person's name but his (or her's) avatar was/is a sepia-tinted photo of a character that was possibly from a baaadd 1950s vintage science fiction movie. The character was pointing a ray-gun at something, if I recall. Thanks.
That's from "The day the Earth stood still" a classic, certainly not a bad flick by any means http://imdb.com/title/tt0043456/ Good story too, "An alien lands and tells the people of Earth that we must live peacefully or be destroyed as a danger to other planets" If he landed today, I would just tell him to take out Gwbuh and company, and we'd all be better off lol
Do you know who is using that avatar? I just wanted to "borrow" it for use in another forum, if the owner doesn't mind. As for the movie, now that you mention the title I think that I may have seen some parts of it long ago. It wasn't very memorable to me but I like the quote. I was generalising when I said "Bad 1950s Sci Fi Movie" because if you only looked at the avatar you would probably think that it's a scene from a pretty hokey movie.
