    Long Island & Rhode Island Help!

    Quick Question...

    I have Sprint PCS right now and I live in long island for the summer and rhode island for the school year. Very very unhappy with sprint and was wondering if anyone had any comments/complaints/suggestions about AT&T. I have a friend who can give me a great deal and was wondering how the service was in long island through rhode island.

    Coverage = #1 Priority

    Thanks,
    Scott

    I don't know about RI but in Long Island suposedly ATT's digital service is pretty good and there coverage in most areas in the Northeast is not bad at all. That being said, could you please be more specific about were in LI and RI you want to be using your phone in the most. Do a search for the names of the counties in LI and the area in RI and I am sure you will be able to find posts talking about the coverage in both areas because i have seen posts about both areas repeatedly over the last 2 months or so.

    In Long Island, Service is spotty along the South shore w/AT&T in some areas, especially from Jones Beach west thru Lido, Long Beach & Atlantic Beach.
    On The Beach, My Att phone would actually lock onto a roam signal from Across the ocean in South/Central NJ! ( a good 20-30 Air miles across the water!) rather than pickup the cells a few miles north on 'the island.
    My Verizon phone had near or full strength in the same areas of the beach.
    AT&T was better when you got off the beach itself, & into the towns (except parts of West end Long Beach)....

    I'm not sure about RI, but I'd say I'm one of the more active Long Islanders on the forum itself. I would recommened AT&T GSM or TDMA on Long Island, but since you live in Rhode Island, I have no choice other than to leave you with the TDMA choice. GSM in Rhode Island for AT&T (so I hear) is just...NOT good. Your other options are Verizon and Sprint, but whatever you do, do not get T-Mobile. They by far have the spottiest coverage here.

    If coverage is your number 1 priority you can't go wrong with Verizon Wireless. Im not just saying that because i use them, im saying that because its the truth. I've tried them all and Verizon has the best coverage.
