For all the Starbucks fans out there here is a list of the stores closing. http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/USStoreClosureInfo.pdf
The 2 closest stores to me (Muskogee, OK and Tahlequah, OK) are closing... So that means again, I have to drive 50 miles from home to get my Tea Lemonade... ~*Ash*~
There's only one Starbucks closing in Tallahassee. There's 4 shops within a 1.5 mile span, 2 on FSU's campus and 2 on the same street, less than a mile away from each other. I'm surprised that more shops aren't closing since most of them just opened up within the last few months.
The 2 stores around here were both opened w/in the last year, and now they're closing. :-( I hate it. Their black tea lemonade is to die for, (If you're a tea fan.) The only coffee product I ever really drink are the Java Chillers from Sonic, but I'm starting to venture out some more on that... and of course they would close the Starbucks now! ~*Ash*~
You're one of the lucky ones! I never was a Starbucks fan, until we went to Vegas 3 years ago, and my mom got up every morning to go get her Coffee, I went with her, and since they don't carry Soda, I had to find an alternative, discovered Tea Lemonade, and it was love at first drink. ~*Ash*~
Wow! Granted, they've popped up everywhere here now - but of the OKC/Edmond closings near me, two of these locations were just built and have only been open since about March. I am a big Starbucks fan, but don't normally go to the stand alone locations. I like Barnes & Noble and Target for my cappuccino fix.
Same here. Some of them are located a few blocks apart but I guess business is good for them to stick around.
Yeah....I don't drink coffee either, so I don't really care if one closes or not. I guess its like a cigar shop...if you don't smoke cigars, you don't care if it closes. But if you smoke, you are going to be upset! Besides....Panera bread has WAY better hot chocolate in the winter time
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413 es70) I read that Starbucks is closing 3 Lehigh Valley locations. It doesn't really affect me considering that I'm not a big coffee fan either. I'll have to keep Panera Bread in mind when I'm in the mood for hot chocolate and course their free WiFi access.
I like frozen expresso, but there are better places to get it. Starbucks is highly overrated, and expensive as well. -Jay
Have you tried the java chillers at Sonic? If you like frozen drinks, I think you'd like them. They're almost kinda like a coffee shake of sorts. ~*Ash*~
No, I haven't. The nearest Sonic is over an hour away. I do like the coffee caramel shake @ Chick-fil-a though... -Jay
:yumyum: Ah, Sonic. Oh how I wish we had more of them in the L.A. area (the only one is in Orange County). Another place I wish we had is White Castle. As for restaurants, I can't wait for Ruby Tuesday (which is making its way out here). Any way we could trade some Starbucks for these places???:browani:
To be honest I do not like their coffee as I think that it is way too strong and at times burned. Now if you ask me which establishment I like to get my coffee from, I would say Dunkin Donuts. I remeber a few months back, there was a report on TV as to which one rates best (tast wise) and the winer was McDs then Dunkin and that was followed by Starbucks. In any manner, by me within a 2 mile distance there are about 4 starbucks establishments and one that just opened uo 2 months ago and non is on the list.
My mom's biggest complaint about Starbucks is that you can't get a simple cup of "black" coffee. You always have to have some fancy roast they've concocted. ~*Ash*~
I have a Sonic within walking distance here. My wife and I would probably starve at least one night a week without them. Burger, chocolate malt, and tots. Mmmm.... getting hungry now.
Is there any way you can transport (a la Star Trek transporter ) some Sonic goodies out this way??? A Sonic cheeseburger sounds heavenly right about now....
We should all join at Sonic on Tuesday, half price burgers from 5 to close. Not to mention happy hour from 2-4. :-D ~*Ash*~
They are only closing one in South Carolina, and guess what, it's one of only 2 that are near me! How ironic.
Yummmm......java chillers and corn dogs!! And Sonic has the best b-fast burrito. Don't even get McD's - it's a lie!!!
No Starbucks are closing in my area. All our locations are in stores, both Safeways & one in our new Target. Their are three others across the river at the Aquarious, Golden Nugget, & Harrah's Casinos. My favorites are the Iced drinks, Iced Mocha, Mocha Dolce, and Vanilla latte.:yumyum: With all this talk about Sonic I may have to go get some this coming week. I always forget we have one in town. It's in one of those spots in town where I don't normally go. My sister also talks highly about their breakfast burritos.
I'm really happy that Sonic made such a turn around. My parents told stories about them in the old days and it seems like many of them closed up and the others lost popularity, becoming "old school". Now they seem to have a good idea of what good food is and has allowed them to expand greatly. We've got three of them in our little town. I wonder if there was a list of Sonics closing years ago? Is anyone familiar with Whataburger? That was my favorite burger out in Texas, and Sonic comes very close to it.
Ah man, all this talk about burgers and stuff is making me hungry...Hmm, I know what I'm having for dinner tonight! :browani:
Yes, there's a Whataburger up the street from me... There are three or 4 of them in Tallahassee! Their burgers are good... Although I haven't had one in years! For some weird reason, I'm only in there on an early Saturday morning and when I stop in, I get their Honey Butter Chicken biscuit. It's delicious... Kicks the pants off McDonald's and Burger King... Right up there with Chick-fil-A. I had Sonic once and I liked it... When I went to Atlanta, I saw a few locations in the suburbs... They must be doing something right, I never saw a Sonic growing up in Atlanta.
I really like those White Chocolate Mochas... Hot or iced! There's this caramel coffee drink that I like as well; I like the Vanilla Lattes also. I decided to stop at a local coffee shop on Wednesday and I had a Vanilla Latte and a blueberry muffin. It was good, but I crashed about 30 minutes later... I have to remind myself not to have so much sugar in the morning! I didn't even perk up... Just straight crashed!
I'm not really a coffee fan either... I couldn't drink something so bitter! Those mochas, lattes, etc have a slight bitter taste, if any at all. Those fancy flavors mask the bitterness quite well. I rarely go to Starbucks since one mocha is at least $4 for the largest cup. Sometimes I get the bottled stuff when it goes on sale, though.
I like hot mochas too, but they are not my favorite this time of year out in the desert. And speaking of coffee drinks and muffins. Their is a local coffee shop Firehouse Coffee that has great drinks and really good muffins. I get one for lunch every time I am waiting for the bus after I go to the gym.
