This is my second Android device, replacing my Xperia X10 with OS 2. I maybe the only person who doesn't go "eww Motoblur", but I am beginning to actually like Motoblur. Here is a list of Pros and Cons for me so far. Pros: Excellent reception Sound quality loud and clear Fast Stellar battery life for a SmartPhone - easy 14 hours for me. Screen resolution is bright and clear and works well indors or outdoors. GPS quick and accurate WiFi, BT work well Camera and flash quite reasonable for a phone Cons: A slight lag switching between screens. Video could be better. The Atrix came in the smallest box that I have seen so far and did not include a wired headphone or a SD card like my SE or the BB9700 did before that. The device is extremely good looking and I wish didn't have to put it in a case but I guess to prevent scratches on the back I need to have a case with a bare minimum covergage. The screen is gorilla glass and that helps. The OS upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1 on my SE was huge however the OS 2.2 on my Atrix is not really much different than the OS 2.1 on the SE. All my apps just work a little better and much faster due to the difference in hardware between the two devices. Many of the at&t added apps are easily uninstalled with rooting and this was a pleasant surprise. My phone came with 1.26 and two upgrades 1.57 and 1.83 came OTA. The last upgrade removed the HSUPA cap imposed by at&t. I haven't done too much tinkering with it other than rooting it so I can use Titanium Backup. All in all, I am glad I got it.
Re: 38 Days With My Atrix Nice and glad you like it. I think the app switching will most likely be resolved in an update
Re: 38 Days With My Atrix I like your review and the fact your happy with your new toy, the Atrix. I like Moto's too!
Re: 38 Days With My Atrix Thanks Joe, Chris and hf1khal A small correction the app switching is blazing fast, the lag is for going from one home screen to another. I received my Incipio Feather and was pleasantly surprised to see a screen protector included with it, although I am not planning to use it. I have used this type of case before, it is very minimalistic and yet gives the protection I need. I got the Black but I think I will go for the "Iridescent Red" as well.
Re: 38 Days With My Atrix I am glad that your Atrix is working out for you, Charlyee. Enjoy your second Android device.
Still in the honeymoon period Well, my Atrix is 10 months, 10 days and 3 hours (give or take 10 mins) old as I write this. As of today it has the honor of being the third longest time I have kept a phone, behind Treo 750 (1y, 3m, 19d) and Treo Pro (1y, 1m, 27d). Actually I had four Treo Pros, due to the case cracking problems. I am definitely due for a new device and although I do look and find nice devices, even tried the Samsung Focus for 6 days, I keep coming back to my Atrix. So what makes it so difficult to go away from it? All the Pros that I posted in the first post are still the main reaasons: Excellent reception Sound quality loud and clear Fast Stellar battery life for a SmartPhone - easy 14 hours for me. Screen resolution is bright and clear and works well indors or outdoors. GPS quick and accurate WiFi, BT work well Camera and flash quite reasonable for a phone I have taken two international trips with it through multiple airports and cities and never had a problem. The con I posted, was a lag in switching between apps has long gone away, not sure with which upgrade. I am relatively happy with the fact that Motorola has been sending out regular updates, that improve performance. Although I am not sure about the one that rolled out last week, adding anything other than more bloat. Fortunately I was able to root it and freeze the blotware right away. My phone is SIM unlocked as well, which is ofcourse is a plus overseas. Let's see if this can be the device I keep the longest.
Re: 38 Days With My Atrix I'm in a similar position. I've had my Moto Milestone now for almost 2 years, I'm due for an upgrade, but don't really see anything I like out there. The new Droid 4 looks sweet, but it's only a Verizon phone right now (ie: no GSM/UMTS model) I'm looking at maybe buying an unlocked Droid 2 global, but otherwise don't see anything that's tempting me and am doing fine with my Milestone
Re: 38 Days With My Atrix That's great, why change a good thing. Now all I have to do is not get tempted by dmapr's suggestions on nifty new devices, like the Xperia S
Re: 38 Days With My Atrix :nono: Maybe if you stop soliciting suggestions the temptation will go away I remember reading something about cause & effect a while back... perhaps this is it? :browani:
Nice write up Charlyee. I am glad youre still happy with your Marvelous Moto.:-D Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows Phone OS 7.5; Trident/5.0; IEMobile/9.0; HTC; mwp6985)
Thanks Jay, its a really nice device but a little too large for my hands and I don't really have any need for lte speeds. lol, you found a different "m" word. Thanks Joe. Ofcourse this is it. How else would I check out my resistance to temptation. + - Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Re: Still in the honeymoon period WOW, that is a long time with a phone. Have the shakes and sweating started yet? Cellphone withdrawal can be a terrible thing. I went through it myself last year, when I kept my iPhone 4 for 18 months. :O EDIT: Don't look now, Charlyee, but I think I found the cure for that withdrawal. Take a wallet into your nearest AT&T store in a few months and pick up this sweet looking Moto: http://www.technobuffalo.com/mobile-devices/phones/motorola-atrix-3-leaked-with-quad-core-processor-hd-display-10mp-camera/
First of all, sorry for somewhat screwing up your post, I accidentally clicked "edit" instead of "quote" I think I have it fixed now... Anyway, the reason for my reply: That is blasphemy!
Yeah once you get a taste of the LTE goodness you'll never want to go back to a 3G or 3.5G device again. I really hope I don't have to wait another 8 months to use LTE data again.
Lol Jay, I hardly do any uploading or downloading. I average about 6 and 4 mba and that's fine for me. Oh and there is no lte plans for our area in the near future. Lol IR, here I was going to look up to you and RR as inspirations and you are throwing temptation at me. Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Hehe, sorry. Well if it's any consolation to ya, you can still eek out a few more months with your current Atrix while waiting on the Atrix 3 to arrive.
Re: Still in the honeymoon period Never thought you'd shy away from a little challenge I would double-check to see if that piece of news has been published by someone who knew the *exact* specs Charlyee wanted
I live and work on the edge of LTE coverage, so I occasionally pick up one or 2 bars of LTE, and when I do, its FAST. I didn't think my data speeds were bad before, but when on LTE, everything happens instantly, even with only one or two bars.
I love my 4G coverage - got an HTC Rezound in early December - kept that little workhorse of an ERIS for 20 months! Surprisingly, my little area of Iowa had coverage long before Des Moines! Husband has a Moto Bionic now - though his feels so bulky with the extended battery. I foresee keeping this phone through its 2 year contract - I almost didn't have to root it...
