LG’s ‘Chocolate’ phone coming exclusively to Verizon Wireless By Mike Dano Jul 14, 2006 BASKING RIDGE, N.J.—Verizon Wireless will sell LG Electronics Co. Ltd.’s “Chocolate” phone, a stylish, black device that slides open and plays digital music. A picture of and information on the phone were posted on Verizon’s Web site. The site lists the sliding-style phone as “coming soon” and does not provide a selling price. The carrier did not release technical details of the phone other than to boast: “Part MP3 player. Part phone. Totally sweet.” The site lists the phone as an exclusive for Verizon. LG introduced its Chocolate phone in its home market of South Korea in November, and shortly thereafter expanded sales of the device to Europe. So far, LG said it has sold more than 1 million of the devices. Analysts are predicting that LG will post lower handset sales when it announces its quarterly financials next week; the company is likely betting on continued strong sales of the Chocolate to boost its earnings. http://www.rcrnews.com/news.cms?newsId=26844 http://www.verizonwireless.com/chocolate/
I believe that's the intension. No different than how many phone companies have tried to copy the style and success of the RAZR's design.
Now I am all confused! I just got customer service to fix my NE2 date, was all set to pick up the 8300 but rumors are for an August release date on this one. I think I'd rather wait and see. Only issue is that I have an unopened V276 Inpulse phone from Walmart that I was gonna return because of me NE2 eligibility - now maybe I'll keep it and see what happens in August. I can always sell it on ebay.
neither, that's the self portrait mirror that they all seem to come with these days (but is nearly useless).
According to Mobiledia the camera does have a flash. http://www.mobiledia.com/phones/lg/chocolate.html
where on th e page does it say that it has a flash the picture has that mirror thing next to the lens, and the right upper corner it says music - both look like a flash but they are not
Under imaging the specs state it has a flash. I just found a CNET article that also lists the phone has a flash. http://reviews.cnet.com/LG_Chocolate/4505-6454_7-31813540-2.html?tag=nav
ok - i saw what you are talking about - hope that is accurate the cnet article, however is about the UK model, which may not have all the same features - i hope you are right though
the phonescoop release page makes NO mention of a flash on the camera and I've read in a couple of places that in fact there is no flash... obviously the place to look would be in the FCC filings, but that's way too much work for my tastes. http://www.phonescoop.com/news/item.php?n=1790
Phonescoop's page is the news article. They don't yet have an information page that lists specifications. According to mobledia's page does list specifications and does state that there is a flash. I hope they are not wrong.
