Have to travel for business and would like the unlock code for a Verizon LG8100. How do I go about getting it free if possible? Thank you. S/N: 508KPWQ0470729
Welcome to the forum LG8100. Phone unlocking discussions are against the rules of WA. Try doing a Google search for this information and see what you come up with.
1st since this is a CDMA 850/1900 phone, where are you looking to travel & unlocking the phone would allow you what ultimate desire? If you want to use it outside the US, you would have to make sure another carrier would activate it and use's the same frequencies & technology. As for unlocking it, as MobilePrincess said, we do not provide codes & you probably won't find any one to do it for free, most places you would have to send the phone to them & pay a fee from $15.00 and up.
Verizon does not lock their phones, anyway. Also, that CDMA phone would never be able to be used with any GSM carriers, no matter what frequencies they used.
I wasn't sure if they locked the CDMA phones. And correct, I forgot to add that the phone couldn't be used with any GSM carrier.
I thought they were locked too, all what one needs to do is to try to get their Sprint phone to be accepted as a phone on a VZW service account or vice versa.
GSM phones are able to be unlocked remotely, where as the CDMA phones need to be reprogrammed in order to be unlocked. Generally people don't usually request to have their CDMA phone unlocked because of the fact that other carriers won't activate a phone that wasn't set up to work on their network in the first place. From what I understand Sprint for example won't allow any phone that is not theirs to be activated on their network at all. Also another problem with unlocking a CDMA phone is that a person would have to know how to reprogram the phone to their providers specifications.
