I was at the local Verizon Corporate store this afternoon. They had just got the plastic display for the 8100 and were expecting a shipment of the real ones this week yet. Now this one I could go for (if I wasn't in love with my 6230 of course ). It is smaller than the 8000 by a little and has more of a rounded shape and is grey. It actually kind of reminds me of the Samsung A670, although the 8100 is not as small. It is still a nice size. I asked about BT and he said that there were some rumors that the 8100 could be used with other BT devices than just the headset, but he was not sure. If the timing was right I would have got this over the 7K in a heartbeat. Just my 2 cents
Re: Vx-8100 Thanks for the feedback Charlyee, it will be interesting to see if LG and Verizon will actually allow more use of the Bluetooth feature compare to the v710 and E815.
Re: Vx-8100 Tony - exactly what I was thinking. The VX8100 is easily the nicest high-end LG in years, but I really want to see what kind of limitations on BT use they put on the phone before I get excited. If it ends up being V710-like, ...meh. But if it's either open or hackable (like the E815)... =)
Re: Vx-8100 Shape like, and look like I actually prefer the LG a little over the new Moto, but I need a phone with good RF. I'm sick of the LG signal flunctuation and average RF where I have no service, but people with Moto and Nokia phones receive phone calls even while their phones are in their pockets, and I'm holding the phone in my hand with No Service.
Re: Vx-8100 exactly, i'm crossing my fingers, btw, Endgaget has an article stating that the 8100 is out today >>>> LG VX8100 Charlyee i edited your post title so that we don't start too many 8100 threads
Re: Vx-8100 It is showing up for me on the verizon site. the pricing online is $149 with a 2 year contract and $199 with a 1 year contract.
Re: Vx-8100 Same in my zip code. PS: I hope someone from WA gets it soon so we can find out if the Verizon/LG combination allows better use of BT than the Motorola/Verizon combinations.
Re: Vx-8100 out today on Verizon Yeah, I have the VX8000, and my brother just bought the VX8100. With them compared, the 8100 seems to be a lot smaller. The one BIG UPSET is the 8100 not mp3 compatible. You can rename the mp3 files to midi files, but loose a lot of quality. It's only been one day here, so we haven't found too maybe bugs. If you want, I was going to do some pic's comparing the phones! -rC
Re: Vx-8100 out today on Verizon I went to check out this phone yesterday at Verizon and I must say i was VERY impressed. I wasnt expecting to like it much but it really is a cool looking phone. And it really didnt feel that big. coming from the A670 which is one of the smaller flip phones verizon has i thought this phone would feel like a monster and it didnt. The one thing I am worried about is I have been hearing a LOT of complaints about reception issues and the earpiece volume being to low. Anyone else have this phone and want to tell us about it?! I am thinking about trying it out and if i find the same problems that i have been hearing just swapping it out for the 815.
Re: Vx-8100 out today on Verizon I have been looking at the LG 8100 and the Moto e815. I am going down and compare them today. I will post my opinion when I get back
Re: Vx-8100 out today on Verizon Well i bought mine 2 days ago as my contract was up so i got the $100 less on phone, sale price & $50 rebate and had 15 days to try it. So far i'm not too happy with it over my vx4400 after waiting for months for it to come out. For one its DEFINTLY not triband as it was suppose to be, the headset volume is low as heck compared to my 4400 even on high settings, and i swear it doesn't ring when set to low as i only heard the voicemail sound (twice as two calls came in that i missed) when i was "napping" yesterday. Unfortuntly if i take it back and keep my old one i loose the whole sale price/$100 back, etc. dealy so i may try one of the newer motorolas but i'm not sure yet as i've heard about alot of issues with them too like dropped calls, etc.
Re: Vx-8100 out today on Verizon Hi Tazman2, the 8100 was never supposed to be Triband: VX-8100 To the best of my knowledge, the only new LG that Verizon carries at this is time, that is triband is the 6100.
Re: Vx-8100 out today on Verizon Hi Sportsman, that's exactly the 2 phones I went to compare. I have to admit I am not a Moto fan so my opinion maybe a little biased but I was not at all impressed by the e815. The built quality of the LG seemed to much superior to the Moto and there were a few other items. The clincher would be if the LG has less limitations than the Moto for the BT. I will be intersted to hear your take on these phones.
This is what I have so far straight from the horses mouth (Verizon wireless device section). The MP3 player is not disabled, but what it is is a type of SD card that you have to first load the MP3s on and then put the SD card in your phone and it will play the MP3. Also the BT is still limited and only works with the headphones and the automobiles that have BT. Can anybody verify these. Thanks PS: There are some users on phonescoop that claim that the SD does not work and will not work unti "Music On Demand" is active.
Yes, that is true. Today me and my friend went down and actually purchased the new LG 8100 :thumb: . Thing is we didn't even know that it was out so we jumped at the opportunity to get it. We've been messing with it for the past hour and so far we learned that we cant send ringtones via SMS cuz it now goes to a special place called the "Sounds Place" so emailing your custom ringtones is out of the question. Also the VCast is awesome  and the special Jabra headset gives you stereo sound when making calls. Camera is also pretty nice where you can have it open to take a pic and still see yourself on the front LCD screen too so you can so the other person can see what you're taking a pic of too! Thats all for now since were trying to figure out how to make the speakerphone work and we haven't tried to load MP3's on there either
To make the speaker phone work you simpy hold down the speaker phone button which you can see an icon where the numbers are. Hold it down for a few seconds and it will go to the speaker phone feature..
yea , we were trying that because we did see the little icon on the button, but when we tried holding it nothing happened. Also the that that sucks is that because of his location we are borderline for VCast so when we got closer to his house the VCast was unavailable. We contacted customer service and they said it was as far as their signal went so basically we had to be about 20 miles away from his house for it to work right . But finally we got the speaker phone to working because on they had a feature to turn it off on the settings menu!! Well more to learn so later!! ~Rich~
