I am thinking of buying this phone and have a rather silly question about a feature. Can the external screen/LCD be set to "always on"? My LG L1400, when set to this feature, does not show the essential information, such as date and time over my wallpaper, but rather an ugly green screen scrolling "Cingular." When not "always on" though, the phone looks as if its off. I would like a phone that can show all the essentials, all the time (date and time, at least). Thanks.
No the external screen cannot be set to stay on. I don't think you'd want it to anyway because the battery life would be severely eaten up.
I think the OP is asking if you can see the date & time with the phone closed in any way. BTW Larry, how is the phone treating you?
Yes I know and the answer is still no. Phone's been good. Only complaint is that the reaction time of some of the functions (key pad presses) on the phone are a little slow (ie. scrolling down while trying to set up a text message or adjusting ringer volume). With my A680 when I pressed a button or changed a setting it would react immediately instead of having this slight delay. But I've gotten used to it now. Still worth it for the great sounding earpiece!
WOW, that stinks! Then what is displayed on the outer screen when idle or a button is hit? Sluggish menus are normal these days, no big deal in my book.
Oh we have a misunderstanding I think. Yes of course you can see the time and signal strength, etc on the external screen. But you have to hit one of the side buttons to get it to light up. But that was the same way on my A680 and I think most color screen phones. The original poster was asking if it could be set to "always on". To my knowledge the answer is no.
Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7510/4.0.0 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.12) May be I misunderstood the question. It sounded like he couldn't get the time &/or date to appear on the outside display.
Thanks for your responses. Just to clarify, my question was whether the screen will always eventually go completely black (as my LG L1400i does)? Is it necessary for one to always press the side button in order to see the date and time or can will/can those necessary items always appear on the outer LCD.
