Verizon Wireless is recalling batteries from LG phones sold between August 2002 and November 2003. The batteries may be counterfeit and could cause burns/explode/catch fire.

The batteries are not the batteries that shipped with the phones, but that were sold separately.

If your battery has the code AEMLLL 02220, AEMMHH 02220, AEMLLL 02X25H, or AEMMHH 02725 it is in the recall.

Discontinue use of the battery immediately and call Verizon at 1-888-351-2121 or visit this site for a free replacement.

The interesting thing is that the recall notice mentioned batteries "sold separately" but the VZW recall website seems to indicate any LG 510 battery needs to be checked. I wonder if VZW figures its just safer to have everyone check?

Very true...All my LGs are good, probably didn't need to check the 6000 or 7000, but I needed something to do

Do you think VZW purchased the batteries off the back of a truck?
