    Hi Everyone.

I just upgraded from a LG 6000 to the LG 8300 and in general am exceedingly pleased with it. One of the few issues that bother me is that unlike my old phone I can no longer send a call directly to voicemail with the clamshell closed. I can do so when it is open by pressing the 'Ignore Call' softkey, but I can't seem to find a way to do so when closed.

Does any one have any information or know any hacks that you think might accomplish this?

    Thanks in advance

I believe that feature was discontinued (for some reason) on the last few LG phones from VZW.

If you press the volume rocker on the side of the phone while it is ringing it will turn off the ringer, but the screen will continue to show the incoming call until it goes to voicemail. My VX7000 worked the same way.

That's an unusal feature to remove - but should be a deal breaker. That phone still appears to be best VZW phone right now

Verizon continues to find new ways to erode their market share. How obnoxious.

That's one of the features that's holding me back from making the upgrade from the LG 6000 to the LG 8300.

Your right the list just grows, They lock all their phone features, they are one of the few that don't offer a 500 minute Family plan for $59.

True they do not offer 500 minutes @ $59 family plan,
but they do offer 700 minutes @ $69 family plan where I live.

I wonder of it is different from other areas?

Nope we have the same here. But is you have a 300 min plan for $56 and would like a buffer of a 100 or more minutes a $3 jump is worth it not a $13 jump.
I was told a lot of people are asking for it and it could come back.
Cingular has the best deal going, 500 roll over minutes
for $59. But I had enough of the spotty coverage they had back in the 90's.

Sorry, I did not read the part about going from 300 minutes to 500 minutes for $3 in any of the posts.

I was making a comparable comparison between the 500 minutes @ $59, that was mentioned in the posts and VZW's 700 minutes @ $69. For $10 you get 3hrs 20min more time.

All I was doing was pointing out other ways they are driving people away. Sorry you misunderstood.

Sorry. I was trying to follow along in the posts, but felt like I got way-laid when the 300 minutes was thrown in there out of the blue.

    My apology.

I've noticed this on both my VX7000 and VX8100, the side buttons will only silence the ringer, leaving the call to go to voicemail after the preset amount of rings, while the "Ignore" button will send the call directly to VM..

This wasn't much of a factor for me however, I have always liked the LGs

When I got my V3m in via snail-mail, I gave my spouse my LG VX6000 to use until her V3m got in via snail-mail, also. Lot's of features on the LG that does not even come with the Razr. 'sigh'

I also upgraded to the 8300 from the 6000. I like the phone, but there are a few major disappointments. I didn't realize that you could not send it right to VM, but I can't imagine why I would care. Silencing the ringer seems more important to me. But I am unhappy that the 8300 is missing the Quick Alarm feature, which I used often with the 6000. Also, I used to be able to press MENU and 2 numbers to get the tool I wanted. But what annoyed me the most is that after I bought the phone and they were copying my phonebook I realized that it did not come with a holster! I had to pay $20 for a cheap plastic holster that is a bit difficult to snap in securely. I HATE the leather cases and I modified my old car charger to work with this one with a razor blade. The Verizon lady blamed the manufacturers. Yeah right! I then held up the holster package and said "whose logo is on this package?” Verison’s of course. The VX600 came with a base charger and a holster. BTY, I was getting 1400 Minutes for $90, but I switched to 900 minutes for $59.

VZW sure is making it where a lot of people are wanting the learn to SEEM/hack their phones. :browani:
