well to make it short.. i got my lg 8100 phone stolen and verizon should send me another one for 50 bucks cause i had insurance.. thats how it shoulda went but they had no more in stock and they said it could be up to a month before they can ship it out to me so im paying a bill for nothing.. so after a lil talk they are going to send me the 8300 for free i believe...

now a few questions to the poeple that have the phone or no alot bout it..

on my lg 8100 i had a minisd card for mp3 player.. this doesnt hold a miniSD.. wat does it hold and how much is it so i can go get one and does it play mp3s?

my friend has the phone and from the outside when he recieves a txt message he cant view it by pressing the play button... on the lg 8100 u could view your txt by that way... is there anyway to fix that problem cause i need that during school i cant get caught with my phone haha..

it doesnt look like a bad phone i just need some answers pleaseeee ty

The VX8300 uses a MicroSD card (also know as a Transflash card) instead of the MiniSD used in the VX8100. You can pick these up just about anywhere - Best Buy, Radio Shack, Staples, etc. Staples has a sale going on right now - You can pick up a 512MB card for about $30. Once the card has been formatted on the phone, you can use a standard SD card reader on your computer to dump MP3 songs on the card and play them on the 8300 easily. Just make sure you enable the MP3 player (search the forums - there are several threads discussing how to do this).

As of right now you cannot read text messages on the outside screen on the 8300 like you can on the 8100. I have seen some messages speculating that Verizon may add this feature to the 8300 in a future software update, but as of right now I wouldn't count on it happening any time soon. For me personally this isn't a big deal, but I know for a lot of people coming from the 8100 it might be a deal-breaker.

    Hope this helps.

i have the thing for the minisd card the scandisc thing that plugs in ur usb port and u can do it that way...will the microsd fit in that scandisc thing or do i have to buy a whole new part for that?

and yea i no how to enable the mp3 player from the 8100 but the outside txt thing just sucks cause it was just easier to read them that way and when you can only have it in your pocket and cant bring it out in school it helps alot but yea i dunno wat they will do i really dislike verizon right now lol

to make the 8300 play MP3's just press OK, then 0, and then size more 0's and then scroll down to Music Setting (#11) and MP3 Enable it.

I got mine off eBay. $30 + $7 shipping. 1 gig card, works with the phone, and came with an adaptor so I can put it in my digital camera too!

eBay is the way to go.

Laur...could you tell me which vendor you went with? I want to make sure that I get the real deal and not deal with shady vendors.

    Thanks!

Just make sure of a few things.

Do they describe the item completely?

Do they include pictures of the actual phone? (Not ones ripped of Verizon or something).
^--might not be applicable if phone is brand new/never opened

Do they have prior positive feedback for selling phones?

Make sure you pay with PayPal using a credit card. Then, if you get screwed over, you can file a claim with your credit card/debit card company, with eBay, and with PayPal.

Oh wow meant to type that reply to another place.

Okay so about that 1 gig card... :)

tradeone2005 is the eBay user ID of the person I bought mine through. I'm not sure if they still have any up.

when buying one, it may seem like a great deal, but sometimes they charge $20-40 on shipping to make up for the "cheap price." Just make sure you check on that before purchasing.

Laur....thanks for the info! I've noticed that some of them are selling them with outrageous shipping, but then when I set it for "US sellers only" most of them disappear, which tells me that they're overseas (most likely in UK)..

    I'll look up that seller....thanks!

Well that and some people don't pay attention to shippng. They'll be like "whoa this is really cheap!" and buy it -- but the sellers make up for it in shipping costs. It is a pretty bad scam going all around eBay.

Just make sure whoever you purchase it from really good feedback.
