I have the T-Mobile National plan and can only connect my wireless modem at 9600 bps and I've been told you can acheive higher speeds. Does anyone know how I can get a faster connection or is this capped by the T-Mobile network?

I can't speak for T-Mobile, but on Sprint PCS Vision I achieved 176Kbps once.

Since you're on T-Mobile and have a 6310i (I've got that too, cool phone) then you're obviously on GSM, and - as such - the data speed is 9.6Kbps, thats just the way the GSM standard was designed. If you want higher speeds you'll have to use on of the 2.5G technologies, either GPRS or HSCSD (both of which are supported by your phone).

You may have to call the network up to set this up, even then they're not both available on all networks. Talk to your carrier, see what their story is. With HSCSD you can achieve up to 43.2Kbps, I'm not entirely sure about GPRS, but its sure higher than 9.6Kbps.

    Good luck.
