    Hello everyone,

In about 2 months I'm driving down to North Carolina to see some relatives, and I am renting a cabin at Lake Lure, I was wondering how at&t's or any gsm coverage was there. On the map it looks pretty week, has anyone experienced their coverage around Lake Lure??

    Thanks,

    Alien.

I live about 20 miles from Lake Lure. I am an Alltel dealer but used to have a Bell South Mobility GSM phone. They eventually became Cingular and now AT&T. As you probably know, Lake Lure is a mountainous area with limited population. ALL Cellular coverage there is spotty. You will probably have fair coverage when you are within about 2 miles of Highway 74. The other 2 licensed carriers in that area are Verizon and US Cellular. Verizon has decommissioned their analog towers in this area so analog roaming is not possible on them even if your phone is capable. Not sure about analog and US Cellular.

So if really boils down down to exactly where you are going to be staying. The Fairfield Plantation Timeshares on the East side of town probably have fair coverage. When you find a signal around the Lake pull over and make your call!
