Well...I'm leaving Friday for L.A. (Anaheim specifically) and was wondering if anyone has a coverage report for me. How is Cingular in Anaheim/L.A.? Are all the towers changed from 310-380 to 310-410 there? My phone is set to look for 310-410 first. Also....will I be able to roam onto TMobile(former Cingular Orange) network....or have they banished us? Thanks everyone! :cool2:
You will be able to use the Orange network (as far as I know), and Cingular coverage in Orange and L.A. counties is quite usable. If you head up into the mountains you may have some issues, but in most populated areas it's fine. That's not to say there aren't dead spots, but there aren't many anymore.
Cool.....thanks Zaphod. Anyone know where lbmike is? I haven't heard from him in a while. Wiggy, you heard from him? Is he moving?
Hi Shizam, I just wanted to wish you a great trip. I do have a question for you, we went to The McCormick Place yesterday and I logged in approximately 86 towers one way all 310-410. So are these all original Cingular or have the ATT 310-380 all been converted over in this area?
Thanks Charlyee! Yep....those are original Orange towers. We haven't been integrated yet....so there are still 310-380 former AT&T towers here. So you logged 86 310-410 towers from your place all the way downtown?
Thanks Shizam, yes 86, and the driver missed a turn on the way back and ended up taking I55 South to I294 to I94 on the way back, so there were more on the way back. I was with 7 other people and as I was logging in tower info, I could just hear them thinking "get a life". Ofcourse they don't realize this IS our life...right?
Just FYI, Shizam, weather in Anaheim is supposed to be gorgeous from Saturday; highs around 23° and lows around 11° (that's 74°F and 52°F for you silly Imperial types), with clouds overnight burning off by about 1000 hours and returning around 1900 hours; rain possible Friday, but not the rest of the week.
I saw.....wow how nice, I can't wait to get to some nicer weather! Most hotels around where I am at only have outdoor pools Isn't 74 a little too chilly to be swimming? Generally it is here in Chicago. Definately not good night swimming weather. Although that will seem warm to us......we have had nights in the upper 30's and daytimes struggling to hit 50 all week :thumbsdow But still....really looking forward to hitting SoCal.
No... I didn't touch him!!! it was a foreigner!!! I didn't do it!!!:browani: Nope.. I have no idea where he is.:loony: Have a great trip...
I wouldn't call 74 too cold to go swimming... particularly if the pool is heated, which most hotel pools are. Just beware... if you're used to the Atlantic Ocean, you need to know that the Pacific Ocean is friggin COLD.
I have it on good authority that Mickey Mouse recently ported from Cingular to Verizon. Just for what it's worth.:browani: BS
Okay.....coverage was great everywhere I went, except for some inside places inside Disney.....but I expected that. Doing a manual selection....the only choices I had were: AT&T Wireless 310-380 Cingular Wireless 310-170 I was able to register on both just fine. My TMobile work phone (v180 1900 MHz only) saw: T-Mobile 310-170 AT&T Wireless 310-380 TMobile is the official owner of the 310-170 network, right? I was surprised my Cingular phone allowed me onto it.....I thought TMobile barred Cingular people from the network....I could be wrong :O Also....I thought 310-380 former AT&T was 850? I'm not sure why my v180 was seeing 310-380
I talked to Dave on Friday. Sounded like he had a good time. He even got to experience something every traveler should have the pleasure of going through: L.A. traffic!!! You know your in L.A. when it takes 3 hours to move 20 feet during rush hour :browani:. Oh, and Wiggy, are you sure YOU had nothing to do with my disappearance? I could swear I was held hostage by some people wearing Treo 650 disguises. It was torture!!! But alas, I escaped and am happy to be home... By the way, Welcome Back Dave!
Or come to SW Florida and go through traffic here. It doesn't take that long to move 20 feet, but we get all of the crazy-@ss drivers from up north come here and drive like 60-65 mph in a 45 or even 40 mph zone like they own the road. Are you sure it was Wiggy that kidnapped you?
In California, Cingular users can still use the Blue or Orange networks, at least right now... the transition is part of the buyout. They sent out an OTA update to prefer Blue, though.
