Kyocera 1735 - Who's using this phone? To All, Just wondering....Now that his phone is in circulation, albeit in limited quantities and by few providers, who among us is using this Smartphone and how does it rate. As an anxious Verizon customer I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of this new phone and would like to hear even preliminary opinions by current users. Any and all comments are welcome! Ripper
Kyocera 1735 - Who's using this phone? I personally have not seen the phone but I did speak to a Kyocera representative who called me using the 7135 on the Verizon network. It was very clear including the speakerphone. I was impressed.
I can't wait for this phone either. There are a couple of issues verizon wants to work out with the phone before it's release. Look for an early Febuary release for verizon. Alltel has already started selling these, i guess their slack equipment testing didn't catch what verizon did... dunno.
i got it on the 26th of december have been playing with it.. went on line bought it from alltel had it shipped here ($675). had it logon on as my t720 on verizon (sold $200).sold visor prisim ($200). {NET COST OF 7135 $275)called the tech folks for verizon data in california, they hooked me up with web service, email, can use my pop, the thing is great (by the way the tech guy had the 7135 in his hand and said that Verizon would release it in days. Said that the have had it since sept and would have released it at the same time as the t720 but it had some bugs. it comes with a mp3 player.. i added a 256 sd card, and it converts ringtones from mp3 files to any tone you want...and you can down load tons of games fee or pay your choice (NOT GETIT NOW!) in color. and the battery life great.. it is in my opinion the best phone product, pda for the year (last) and the other players are going to be scrambling to catch up..I also changed the banner and have the access codes to get into the main system...go to phone put in six (6) 111111 ones . it then gives you a new menu scroll down. the primary access code is six (6) zero's 000000.. you in .. be careful.. mike
http://www.topnic.com/cgi/read.cgi/t56684135 Kyocera 7135 beats out Sony Ericsson P800, Treo, Blackberry and others Back to all headlines -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- submitted by bbeeler Wednesday, January 08, 2003 In a blind taste test...er...recent consumer survey, the Kyocera kicked some serious PDA/phone butt. Zanthus, a leading market research-based consulting company, today unveiled the results of its first Beyondbeta Awards survey. According to the 438 consumers Zanthus contacted Kyocera 7135 is the most sought-after cellular/Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) combination phone in the U.S. market. The survey included a mix of self-described early adopters and more typical consumers. Nearly 19 percent of those surveyed said they would purchase the Kyocera 7135 provided cost was not an issue. Interested consumers appreciated the all-in-one nature of the model, its compact size and apparent ease-of-use. The second-most popular device among survey participants was the AudioVox 2032SP. This device generated purchase interest from about 17 percent of those surveyed. Other models included in the survey ranked in order of interest were the Nokia 9290, Handspring Treo 270, Sony Ericsson P800, Blackberry 6710, Samsung SPH I-500, and T-Mobile Sidekick. Frankly I find these results puzzling and not that valuable, but still worth mentioning. The single fact that these Web participants could not use or touch the devices makes the whole thing invalid, the way I see it. However, there is some interesting data to be learned here. Following are some of the key data points Zanthus reported: -- Penetration of converged devices will improve considerably as prices decline. For example, of the 17 percent of consumers that expressed serious interest in the AudioVox 2032SP, 13 percent indicated they would wait to purchase the product (currently priced at $729) or purchase another product instead. -- Likely purchasers of a converged device currently tend to own either just a cell phone or two standalone devices. For instance, among those interested in the Kyocera 7135, 36 percent own just a cell phone and 40 percent have two discrete devices of some kind. -- Sixty-four percent of the typical consumer survey participants said a feature that would automatically find the fastest available Internet connection, for anytime, anywhere connectivity, would be `very appealing.' This increased to 86 percent among early adopters. -- Other features of interest in ranked order include: a color screen display, an expansion slot for added memory, a built-in speaker phone and the ability to synchronize with Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes. Saw the phone at CES today and it is huge. It is pretty much the size of a stand alone palm. It is not a pocket phone al all. Check out the Samsung i500 much smaller.
True--this phone is bigger but---it has an SD card port and it has analog---something to think about--- SWC
The phone itself is a great looking phone and yeah it is a little bigger than a standard cell phone but when you look at all the things the phone does and the nice size of the full color screen you don't even worry about the size of it. I had the chance to play with one back in October in Madison at a CDMA training session for US Cellular and spoke briefly with our KYocera rep and he was hoping for a Jan. Feb delivery and around $400. Only got to look at it for a few seconds but what I did see I really did like and I think others will to.. Panama
Hi, i tried the '111111' on my Kyocera 7135 and that worked. Any idea what the next # is ? I tried 000000,111111..... Thanks
It is interesting to note that someone claims to have seen the Kyocera 7135 at U.S. Cellular training, but all of the employees that I've talked to in Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, and Eastern Iowa claim that they don't have the phone now, and won't get it in the next six months. At the rate that things are going, six months may be about when everybody gets the 7135, but I find it interesting that the expectations on this phone seem so different. -PatP
