And I'll be back with impressions later, but some quick questions...I can access all this free news and stuff; is it really free, or is that part of some subscription im going to eventually be billed for? Theres a premium subscriber section that i cant access, so am i too assume what i have is free all the time? I can also check my email, which I could not do on my previous phone (it would say I wasnt subscribed or something)...is that free now also? Any help is appreciated...thanks!

Also...I didn't choose to get insurance when I bought it...can I do that still, or is that at time of purchase option only?

You were probably signed up for VCast, which also includes Unlimited Mobile Web. The first month is free, everything thereafter is $15 per month.

Yes...you can add insurance at any time. However, if you have home owner's insurance, you may want to consider getting a "personal articles policy" for the phone. It may be cheaper and you'll get a check cut from the insurance company if your phone is lost/stolen without any questions.

You can get a personal articles policy independent of any renter's or homeowner's insurance...State Farm has some really good rates for a PAP.....

My daughter wants to trade her V3m in for the Chocolate. Mainly for the iPod-look and the MP3 player.

She still has about 7/8 days left on her 15day return.

Let me know what you think and how it works, please.

I just got mine in last week.

    Here's my first thoughts.

The touch screen gets a little "finiky". It some times gets a little annoying going in the wrong menus... not moving in the direction you want it to.

The buttons also takes a little to get use to. They seem to be pushed together tightly.. and my fat fingers hit two at a time a lot. The buttons aren't really set up to be text mes. friendly.

The END button is on the side of the phone. This gets annoying at times also...But if you are done talking all you have to do is close the phone.. no biggy.

Battery life is ok... i think it is 2 hours of talk time.. Signal is ok also.. not the best but it is all right.

I am getting the music kit in the mail on thursday... Really no point having the phone with out it.

Those are really my only gripes about it.

I love the look.... The display is amazing...Camera is nice.... the speakers are great...

What it comes down to is a very nice looking phone that does what is suppose to do. I would reccomend it over the Razor any time.

Get the LG VX8300. It plays MP3's too. I have a 1 gig memory card in mine. Plus, its camera has a flash (the Chocolate does not). And it is cheaper than the chocolate. I'm very happy with mine and I think most anyone on this forum would agree that the LG VX8300 is the best cell phone that verizon has to offer.

Great reception, loud, good camera, good video, plays MP3's and WMAs, easy to use, big buttons, small, fits easily in hand, very customizeable (both options & look).

Well, you know teenagers, when they make up their mind right or wrong, it is almost impossible to persuade them otherwise.

I will also pass this on to here and see how it goes.

all are very good points above.... Main reason i went with th 85 instead of the 83 is mear looks.

I am a full time DJ (www.jeremyganss.com) and i wanted the looks of the chocolate. Very nice for my profession.

What kind of problems are you having with the phone? Personally, I don't like the Chocolate as much as I thought I would. I often hit keys in error and texting on it is hard. The battery life isn't all that great on mine and reception is horrible compared to my Motorola.

The LG VX8300 works GREAT for about 2/3 days, then it starts dropping calls and when someone calls it goes straight to voicemail. It dosen't even ring when they call.

This will be the 3rd one in two weeks that I am trying out. They told me until we get something working, I do not have to worry about the 15 trial period, which was really nice.

The Chocolate is not very nice for people like me who have fat or should I say large? fingers. The battery life is just like the RAZR, not that great, but ....

Hey guys, is there a way i can use the MP3's i have downloaded on my chocolate for ringtones? For some reason i cant figure it out.

You can chop and cut the MP3's to ringtones, BUT sometimes the converted ringtone just does sound very good.

Look in the ringtone thread and there is a couple of guys who will convert them for you for free.

Well the 4th VX8300 and the 2nd Chocolate are holding their own. So maybe I finally got two that are not having problems.

The H500 headset is working like it is supposed to on the VX8300.

    Yes!!

Now the Chocolate is coming out as a flip phone. It will look just like the RAZR.

Ok, this is long over due, but i sold the chocolate a while back. Just couldn't stand the touch screen. I did end up going with the flip version of the chocolate. 8600?? I do like this phone a lot better.

Thanks for the update. I really like my chocolcate now...I like it more than the Samsung U740 I got; my best friend has the 8600 and he loves it. Good choice!
