Of course, when sprint inevitably starts dropping calls You can always use the "Force Roam" option on the phone under the network settings to make it go onto Alltel. Or whatever non sprint network is available. But maybe sprint isn't that bad where you are like it is for me. I live near an affiliate area of sprint called iPCS which doesn't do a very good job building the network out...
No it's not. You can cancel with your new carrier under the 15 day SG perioed (mandatory by FCC rules) and move back to Alltel. In fact, you have 30 days to change your mind and request a reconnect with Alltel and the lines would be reinstated without incurring any reconnect fees or new activation fees. Now, if you ported your numbers to another carrier, that will muddy the water but any sales office could help you under that situation.
Oh huh, didn't know you could do that. Well army1 you've got options still. Keep us advised. Still hope to see you join the good guys LOL.....
Army, do you realize when you roam onto another network with your Sprint phone, all M2M and N&W calls deduct from your anytime minutes? To my knowledge, they are the only carrier that does that. You can also set up your Alltel phone (in most cases) to roam on Sprint if you have a weak Alltel signal.
I have the 75 buck plan to with an affinity discount, this plan was specifically promoted by alltel's affinity reps about 2 years ago so I don't think they'll be pulling it from us...can't beat it with the discount. now the 79 dollar plan is NOT eligible and my discount was pulled twice before I gave up and said put me back Now I just want to know how djjim got the 3 dollar plan on his personal phone, got it on the work phones but never could get anyone to put it on my private lines...and oh have I tried :browani:
Wirelessly posted (Treo 750: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.1.17.0) Please keep the posts non-inflamatory & on topic. Thank you.
Not true. M2M doesn't count when roaming, but N&W minutes are not billed as anytime minutes when you are roaming, they are billed as N&W.
Actually, if you are really roaming, there are no nights & weekend minutes. Roaming is just billed as straight roaming - no n/w, no m2m, just roaming no matter who you are calling or when you are calling them.
I was referring to Sprint. If I am roaming and make a call at 10pm, as a Sprint customer that call is billed as a N&W minute. If I am roaming and dial another Sprint customer at 3pm, it is billed as an anytime minute. If I am roaming and dial another Sprint customer at 10pm, it is billed as a N&W minute.
Where do you "see" this happening? I mean I just got the new flyer for the affinity stuff, just hit my inbox and it still says all "freedom" plans over 39.99 or whatever. the 75 dollar plan is still listed as a freedom plan on my bill, the 79 dollar plan is a family choice plan, and thats how its billed. They can take it away, and although I'm quite happy with Alltel they would be risking an ETF free cancel...just to prove a point. If I'm going to get hosed I might as well go to Sprint where I can get horrific CS at dirt cheap prices
I "see" it happening at the billing system level. I "hear" about it from customers calling in and wanting to know where their discount went. Here's another example: a recent batch was done removing a feature code giving free unlimited texting from accounts that don't qualify for it. The messages regarding it just went out and boy has there been tons of calls regarding it. People want to keep the free package even though they never should have had it in the first place. The same thing is going on with discounts that don't belong. They are running batches to remove them from accounts that don't get them - which qualifies as any promo plan. The promo plans, by default, are where you get something free that would normally cost. The 65H1 National Freedom 1000 ($75 Primary, second line free, lines 3-5 9.99) qualify as promo plans and yes, I get calls frequently where the discount has been removed from that plan - validly. This almost always results in customers demanding escalations to supervisors - who repeat what I just said. The customer does not get back the invalid discount. So if you have it - GREAT. All I'm saying is that when you lose it - and sooner or later, you will - you won't get it back as long as you are on that plan.
I know Alltel isn't the only company auditing accounts, but to me, if a discount was not obtained through fraudulent means, but rather employee error, the discounts should stay. This is akin to Target marking something for 9.99 that should be marked at 99.99. Then I buy it at the incorrect price and Target decides to bill me 6 months later, demanding 90.00 from me for their mistake. I think that is wrong.
I can see the logic of removing discounts on promo plans. It actually reminds me of a situation which I had with a cable provider which I was getting the $55/month speeds and paying $43/month. But just as Comcast did with me is what Alltel should do. Notify the customer of the reason why the discount is going to be removed, and why the given plan does not qualify for an affinity discount. Also, if they want to keep the discount, these similar plans do qualify ... NF 900, NF 1400, etc. Then invite them to call the company to discuss their options, but staying on the same plan would result in the disount being removed by this date since it is already a promo plan. Just removing discounts and sending customers a bill that's far larger than normal will infuriate customers, as I'm sure bikebryan can attest. And really, CS reps shouldn't have to deal with that for alltel or Sprint or anybody else. And as someone that has an affinity discount, my rep is hard as heck to track down and get in contact with. I honestly don't think she's come around to my workplace in over a year, though luckily I did save her e-mail. If I just noticed it missing, the first thing I would do, while being very frustrated is to call alltel and ask about it. Are the smart choice packs eligible for discounts? I'm about to upgrade and just curious.
No they do not and I'm very disgruntled about that. I'm hoping if I have my discount set before I change plans the rep won't notice and it'll stick.
Is Alltel going back and charging people for the service they weren't supposed to be getting? If so than your example is valid. It sounds to me, closer to Target going back and correcting the mis-marked items.
Hardly. Target correcting the mismarked items only affects future customers. It wouldn't affect anyone that purchased in the past. I realize my example isn't perfect, but it is the best I could come up with on a whim, because Alltel's policy affects past customers, because thanks to wireless contracts, past customers are also future customers. Alltel should honor the discounts through the term of the contract or allow those who are having their discounts pulled to leave without penalty. It's not unreasonable to think that the promo plan plus discount promised may have been what tipped the scales in Alltel's favor when the customer was searching for a provider. After all, if Alltel (their employees) screwed up, the customer shouldn't have to pay, IMO. Like I said above, if fraud is involved, that is an entirely different matter
Seriously, this was a plan PROMOTED by affinity reps and you think that its right that it should be taken away? I work for the same company I did 18 months ago that qualifies for the discount, I did nothing unethical in obtaining said discount. I pay full price for the extras on the account and as I said I've been quite happy with Alltel, but if they want to pull a legitimate discount out from under me I will walk. You say that "rightly so" how exactly do you figure? now if people who scammed alltel are being caught or they are taking it away from folks who no longer work at the same place then I can understand 100% but to take away legitimate discounts is just petty crap that will give them a much larger black eye in the future. I completely understand why someone would be pissed, an ALLTEL EMPLOYEE sells them something only to have it taken away while still locked into a contract?? If it happens to me I will demand a supervisor then immediately call my business rep to let them know I will shop them out ASAP. That petty crap mulitplies fast and I know their getting all cozy with Sprint, but if they want to turn into them I'm gone.
I guess this is the point where its time to mention an important thing. Never trust a salesman. They rarely understand what they're selling. This isn't meant as a slam against anyone. You just can't be sure that what they're saying is completely true. Get things in writing and and read the fine print, even for cell phones.
Very very true, but if I remember correctly this plan was actually on the affinity flyer released by Alltel. Its fun to blame the sales folks, but it don't get clearer than that. In big bold print and pretty colors I'll have to search my email archive and see if I can find it. Honestly I think if I jockeyed things around correctly it would only be like 5 bucks a month more and lose some minutes I never use, really its just the principal of the thing.
If you got a copy of the flyer than you've got something you can use to keep it, get it back. Businesses are usually smart enough to know that an offer in writing is proof of a contract. We've used this several times to get offers sales people made but didn't have the authority too.
Your plan won't work. Say you have a discount on your current eligible plan and switch to a SmartPack plan - the discount will go away while on that plan. The discount CODE will still be on the lines in question, but you won't get the discount on the non-eligible plan. If you are able to switch off the smartpack to a regular plan, then the discount would start up again.
ok guy's ,as of 4/14 i'm going back to alltel, they are waving the reactivation charge;s i', keeping both my numbers .,that i have had for years, and we are going to get the moto krzr k1m. what do you guy's think of this phone, my budget let's me have 2 choice's moto or lg ax565, they are going to give me 20 day's instead of 15 to try the phone so give me all the bad and good of both please, this is my last shot.
When given the choice between a Motorola and an LG I'd choose the Motorola any day. My niece has the GSM version of the KRZR from AT&T and she loves it. -Jay
Well that's good! It's a very good phone imo. I use it myself. The 565 is pretty good, though I'd take the k1m over it. The only thing I might give the 565 an edge in is the fact that the screen is bigger. And that the music player has the FM transmitter, but I'm not sure if that means you can just stream it over a car radio etc, or whether you can actually listen to the radio through it. Oh and you can view youtube with the 565 while you can't with the k1m. The k1m is smaller, more stylish. And it gets a little better reception.
It should be under settings/network settings. Then there will be something that gives the options to set to sprint only, automatic, or affiliated/roam only. The phone may be limited features wise though besides voice because it doesn't let you use data features when you do it. It may vary by phone though. Oh, and certain features like m2m don't count when roaming with sprint. Oh and one more difference the k1m is a more sturdy build physically as it mostly metal while the lg is plastic.
Any phone sold by Sprint in the past year or longer has three options in the "roaming" menu: home only, automatic, and roaming only. The only exception are BlackBerry devices, which do not have an option to force roaming.
