My Moto HS820's and my H700 work reliably up to 100 feet. After that it can get staticy.

It seems that the stores got a new delivery this week and upon my return home, the first thing I will be doing is going to the store and see if they put 2 on the side for me.

They do have 5 in stock plus 4 returned ones (which is what they got on the first delivery). They put 2 on the side for me but I just got a call saying that all stores around here ended up with returns on 90%+ of what they sold and that they are now looking at possible recall to see what was wrong. Still need to get more details as to what was the cause of the returns. The adivecse was to hold off for now and wait for more info to come up.

OK, got the info. the problem seems that after the first charge when one places it to be charged again it no longer charges. They are no on V2 of the unit and that one still has some issues too. All the returns at that one store came back with the same exact charging problem. The store manager had to take them of the display and hide them pending a word of possible recall.

Well now I have the jawbone (by the way I got it for free) charged it up and tested it and I can honestly say that I do like it despite the size of it.

A friend who works there gave it to me as gifte for all the help I have given him on Blackberrys. I did the noise test and it was about 90% improvement with the noise reduction. But I can say it was excelent and the sound was very good.

Edit, I just noticed that the distance is not so great on it. It starts to cut off after going about 15 feet. both the h700 and the plantronics 645 go much further and close to 25 plus before they even start to crackle. But since I will be using it mostly in the car or in the City, it should always be within a couple of feet away from the phone tehn it shoudl work jsut fine.

I am not a grouser by any means but I can't help but wonder when I read complaints about the real distance versus claimed distance concerning Bluetooth headsets.

While at times I will leave the phone on the desk or table when I am wandering about the house, I generally have my phone on my hip when I am either at work or in the house. I have wandered quite far afield though on ocassion and I generally have had no major problems with range. With my Razr weighing mere ounces I don't find it onerous to keep on my person. I have an outstanding case that enables me to carry my phone either on my belt or in a pocket without having to worry about accidental key activation.

Distance therefore is not an issue. Comfort, clarity, ease of use are of far more importance to me. If the Jawbone lives up to its noise cancelling claims than it is a good buy in my view. I emailed aliph about the charging problem and they claim no knowledge of any problems with fielded units. They have indicated there have been no large scale returns for any reason.

If that is what you are getting then you are getting the most out it and beyond the 30 feet claim.

I usualy have it on my side but when sitting on my desk, the phone also sits on my desk. I get a call then I end up moving around and in the process forget the phone and that is how I experience my distance issues.

My curiousity getting the better of me, I left my phone sitting on the desk in the home office and wandered out to the garage on the other side of the house. Tapping the command button I called my wife's phone. There was some small degree of static but otherwise no problem.

Down the hall across the living and dining rooms and into the garage. Without dragging out a tape measure I would estimate the linear distance to be in the 35 to 45 foot range. Granted this is in a home and not in an office environment where one could reasonably expect some interference from the girders and the like but it is enough for me to get an idea.

I like the convenience of the headset for when I am otherwise busy and don't want the hassle of having wires and/or holding the phone to the ear. The few times I will be one place while the phone is in another are few and far between.

Has anyone pushed the envelope with a Jawbone on its noise cancellation claims?

Yes, I did with the stereo on. It did block about 90% but the call was very understadable from my side as well as the other side.:)

Has anyone been able to find or find out when Nextlink's Invisio Q7 is actually going to be released?

Since the summer of '06 it has been "on its way" to RadioShack. I cannot find any RadioShack that either has it or knows of it.

Definitely has a Borg look to it.
