The specific end of support day for Windows 7 will be January 14, 2020. After that, technical assistance and software updates from Windows Update that help protect your PC will no longer be available for the product. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4057281/windows-7-support-will-end-on-january-14-2020 I still see businesses running Windows 98
I'm not sure of the last time I've seen Windows 98 (arguably one of the most popular Windows versions) but Windows 7 is definitely everywhere. It's a bit worrisome that something as easily hackable as Windows 7 will continue to be used by doctors without security updates.
No, it just means that you won't have updates and support for older OS's after that date. Nothing will happen on that date to your system. However, you should upgrade as soon as you can, as a system that doesn't get regular security patches is vulnerable to exploits.
Windows XP is another non supported Windows operating system a lot businesses still use. Forbes says 1 in 3 businesses still use us Windows XP https://www.forbes.com/sites/ajdell...businesses-still-run-windows-xp/#672a7a5a57fc
That's a disaster waiting to happen. I bet half of these businesses don't have a robust backup procedure set up either.
