Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D062; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320) i'm not surprised but i'm glad to see the battle is over.
I bought an HD DVD last year, but no big deal I only bought if for it's ability to play DIVX on disk or memory cards. $60 at Sams and I can watch the same movie on my phone and my tv... My old Tube TV doesn't care too much about HD
Yep. I too bought the PS3 (I got the 80 Gb version with Motorstorm included) last week since I have a bunch of PS1 and PS2 games that I would like to play. Now I can buy Blu-Ray dvd's and enjoy them in high definition on my TV.
Well if you like video games (like I do ) then it is a good investment imo. Especially since it will supposedly be upgradeable to Blu-Ray 2.0 in the future.
And if you do get one, look into getting the game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It is a very addicting game. I have put over 100+ hours into it and still have more quests to complete!! I have never gotten into a game like this before. I think I need help!! LOL
Gamer03, is the 80Gb version still backwards compatible with PS1/PS2 games? I remember reading that Sony stopped providing the backwards compatibility in the latest version of PS3.
Sillybilly answered it. Although it only has "limited" backwards compatibility unlike the older versions that could play more games. Here is where you can check to see the backwards compatibility for specific games: PlayStation.com
I have the older 60GB version and only had to check that page on one game everything else played without a hitch. That game turned out to be a bad disc, so in the end it played without a problem as well. I was just generally curious and since I haven't been back to that page I didn't know they added 80GB model as an option thanks!
No problem. I remember when it first came out I think there was a 20 GB model and a 60 GB model. Then both of those were replaced with a 40 GB model and 80 GB model. Now the 80 GB model is being phased out in favor of another 80 GB coming out in June that will be bundled with MGS4 and the new DualShock 3 controller. Supposedly they will have bigger GB versions come out in the future. But to me, 80 GB is more than enough.
Yep, another difference between 20GB and 60GB original models was (IIRC) the lack of wireless network option on the 20GB. 20GB was never really available (always out of stock), then the 60GB version was reduced in price and then the 40 & 80 versions you're talking about started showing up. I've already got a DualShock controller, and the hard drive can be easily replaced with a larger capacity version from what I hear not that my 60GB is threatening to need a replacement any time soon
