Hi everyone...I'm back and trying to figure out new phones for my husband and I. We currently have the Samsung a670 and they've been going strong for the last 2 years! My husband's (who hated every other phone he's ever had in the past) only complaint with the a670 is that there's no keypad lock function to prevent him taking arbitrary pictures of his inner pocket!

Anyway, we're in the market for our NE2 phones. I've been hearing a lot about the Samsung a950 and the Moto E815. Really, the functions that we desparately need are:

    Great reception
    Loud ringers
    Good battery life
    Clear sound with good volume

All the rest of it are bells & whistles and we don't need these, but if we have them, then fine. My husband would obviously like something where he could lock the keypad to prevent accidental pushes of the keys, but that's not critical for me...

    Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!!!

I'm very satisfied w/ the RAZR!!! It fits the bill on all counts you listed!!! I couldn't care less what UI it has, it just works & is light in the pocket!!!:)

I've heard that the Razr (which model BTW are you talking about?) isn't reliable on the VZW network....is this not the case anymore??

I would say that the E815 will probably give you better battery life and reception than the Samsung. Friends with Samsung VZW phones always complain they drop calls/don't get service in places I don't have much trouble in. The E815 is also the last phone without a VZW UI on it, which to me, is quite a plus. The phone has its bugs, but overall I am a very happy camper.

I'd recommend the Motorola E815 or the LG VX8300. Out of the current Verizon Wireless phone lineup those two get the best reviews and from what I have seen both perform well.

Well, we went and got the vx8300 tonight. They're charging now and so is my BT headset. Can't wait to try it out over the next 15 days.

Well, so far for 48 hours, I'm liking this phone! I haven't bought the microSD chip yet for I'm waiting until I "know" I want the phone before spending lots of money on accessories!

The reception is awesome...even dead spots in my home are getting reception!
The ringer is loud! OMG! Almost too loud on the highest setting! There's only 11 included ringtones, but that's fine by me. This is really a business phone anyway.
The clarity is good. I'm not finding any significant difference between this phone and the a670.
I did buy the bluetooth headset...the Moto H500... A lot of people have complained about the reception, the consistency and the amount of dropped calls. So far, I'm not experiencing any of this and I'm using the BT headset with about 75% of the calls I've made (already over an hours worth of calls in 2 days). The clarity is good and no one has indicated that I sound like I'm in a tin can or anything.
The bluetooth paired with my headset and computer without any complications..very simple process actually.
I like the feel of the phone and the keys. Just need to get used to the LG setup versus the a670, but that's not a big deal.

In 48 hours, that's about as much as I can give you right now...will continue to update (if you'd like) as I use more features and if I keep the phone past the 15 days! :D

    Will do WiggyFife...just for you!

I used the speakerphone for the first time today. Very clear on my end and the other end didn't make any comments on my using the speakerphone, so I'm guessing that they didn't notice. Nice feature! Especially since the a670 didn't have a speakerphone...

Time to update your profile to reflect your new baby! ( LG vx8300 ) :)

Nice phone choice. My sister has that one and it feels like a really solid phone. The outside display is really cool too. You can save video screensavers on it. Call quality seems excellent too.

I like the gun-metal grey color. It makes it look a lot more professional.

I plan to, as soon as I'm positive that I'm keeping the phone. I'm on the H500 headset as I type this and it's working great!!!
