I think I realy like the lg cu 500 phone, but was wondering if there is a real problem with them getting too hot during a call? I've seen this mentioned on cnet' user opinions, more than one user.. Has anyone here had this happen or is it being checked out by LG? gee, just when you think you found the right phone.. Thanks for any information.

I have noticed that it does get warm during a call, although never what I would call hot. I haven't read any of the comments about this particular phenomenon (which is odd, since I thought I was an expert on all of this phone's quirks ;) ).

I wouldn't count on LG following up on, or even admitting, any technical issue. While their engineers are almost certainly working behind the scenes to address issues (witness the software update recently distributed by Cingular), their technical support people are completely useless. Opinions vary as to whether they are congenitally so, or kept in the dark intentionally. :D

Anyway, in your reading you might want to check out my review of this phone and my rant on poor Cingular and LG tech support.

Quirks aside, this is still a very good phone and in my view, it could be an excellent one. I assume you will be getting it from Cingular. You should decide whether running programs like Google Maps and Opera Mini is important to you. There is defintely an issue here, as described in the links above.

    Good luck!

I also think this a very good phone. As is. I live in a non 3g area. But it still works great.

Yeah, pretty much all phones will get warm if you talk long enough on them.
