This phone seems to have everything I want except a built in camera. I'm willing to wait for this option as long as it isn't to far into the future. Does anyone have any information about when a camera will be included in a 7135 type phone from Kyocera? Thanks.
Where I'm at USCC is supposed to release it this coming Monday. Alltel has been selling it since last December I think. If it had a camera, it would be the perfect device for my uses. You don't find that very often.
Just an observation, but since the 7135 uses SD cards, you can effectively use any camera that suits you as long as it uses SD cards too. This means that you can have your choice of most digital cameras, which is FAR better than having to use exactly one camera supported by the phone vendor (at least in my opinion). -PatP
Good point. I'm not looking to carry two devices. I'm looking for a single device solution. I would like to see at least VGA resolution though.
Maybe I missed a meeting or something, but every phone that I've seen has the camera as a discreet piece. Granted that I may have a wierd perspective, but even with those phones, they are still two things to carry from my perspective. I'm actually starting to drift back to the component model, rather than looking for a single mega-device that does everything. I was originally looking for a device like the 7135, with even more features. I'm starting to think that I (and my firm) would be better served by a set of standard, interconnectable parts. Something like a V60x, a laptop, a PDA, a standard camera (or three), a GPS, etc. -PatP
It is a lack of tactile equipment use on my part, PatP. No carriers in my area had any examples in their stores on my last visit a month and a half ago. I live in a comparatively remote area. I have only seen examples on TV, i.e. Nokia and Sprint ads. All appear to be integrated into a single hardware platform. Thanks for letting me know they are not. I would like to invite you to join my USCC Users Group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/usccusers/ . Your insight and knowlege would be greatly appreciated there. I sincerely hope you decide to share your expertise and experience with us.
Kyocera has been working with Veo to make the Veo SDIO camera work with the 7135. They demonstrated it at CTIA.
I haven't monkeyed with a Veo Traveler for an age, so these comments may be way out of date. As I last saw it, the pictures were stored in a proprietary format on the Palm, although the conduit would convert them to JPEG files on the PC or Mac. This was kind of a pain, since we wanted to be able to send the photos directly from the Palm. Is this still the case? -PatP
