Talking about different OS, rumor has it that two forum members are interested in the Nexus 7. One has already picked one up and the other hoping to pick one up today. Neither has an Android device at present and have not used a pure Android device in their past droid life.

Hoping to see some posts on it in the appropriate forum. :)

Neither one? I thought one of them had a short brush with a Galaxy Nexus...

Wow, that's quick, for some folks it would take 5 days alone just to migrate the SIM card and some media files :D

Holy cow, you really are an annoying little insulting bugger, aren't you? Your arrogance is that you don't listen to what I'm saying and make assumptions about what I do. Or not do.

Of course I played with the Moto X in the store. And the S4 and a Nokia WP lumina. Many others too. Just like others here I go to mobile phone stores all the time and read, many, many forms and reviews. Why the _____ would I waste time on this or any cell forums if I wasn't interested in the latest technology?

Because I have no _____ing serious motivation for a much larger screen. How many times do I have to post that before you digest that through your head? Jesus.

Many iPhone users switch to an android because they want a bigger screen. Many android users give up their bigger screens and switch to an iPhone cause they were fed up with their android devices.

Your view is kind of lopsided.

So if you're counting borrowing a coworkers iPhone for a week as having 'had' an iPhone, then I've also had a blackberry and Android. But no WP. I rolled up my sleeves helping my kid understand a BB for a year. Also worked with two female colleagues and their Androids, working through that OS getting them set up and downloading Apps for them. Even turned them on to WhatApp and showed them to use it, along with using internet radio. When I didn't understand how to do something, I ask here and/or google for the answer.

So I understand other OS's. I've played with other hardware devices too. If you wish to send me one to use for 3 months, I'll do that even. There is no refusal to consider other brands, since I've been doing that. But I'm also smart enough to understand what they offer, or not, without having to buy one over my iPhone which is working very well for me, thank you, when I make that comparison.

    Got it?

Seriously doubting if WA has any value to me anymore.

    Re: Nexus 7 (2013) - quick review

So says the guy who has an oversized laptop ;) What is it? 17" ???
    I think you said that.

    iPhone 4"; iPad Mini 7.9", iPad 9.7" MacBook 13", iMac 27"

PS: If I plot device number vs screen diagonal, its a good linear fit, with out the iMac: (y = 2.88x + 1.45
    R² = 0.98252). With an Rsquare of 0.983. ;)

So if the iPhone 5 is device 1 and the Mini is 2, iPad is 3, MacBook is 4...then device #1.5 (iPhone 6), I project to be 5.77" via the formula.

    WOW!!!!!

Given the good battery life on the current iPhone, a 4.5-4.7" iPhone model would give us phenomenal usage times.

Clearly some feel 4" is too small. And some feel 5" or more is too large. I'm guessing that the majority of smartphone sold are in the 4.5 range. 4.5-4.7" makes sense from a market POV.

I do like having my iPhone 5S just barely peek out from the top of my shirt pocket though.

Apple always has had multiple screen models of their macs. IPads too recently.

It would be sensible for them to offer 4" and 4.7" models. At least. 5,5? Maybe that's a fringe market. But they have to maintain 326 PPI at least. Or go slightly larger.

It would be nice to have an hd format iSight camera to match too.

Here is an interesting article on sizes in general. Reachability is a consideration.

Note: the interactive test in the link http://graphicsweb.wsj.com/documents/smartphone-ergonomics/?standalone=1 is very interesting and fun

It's true that with my current cased phone I can grip it and my thumb and middle/ring fingers can touch. For a sure grip. And I can reach most of the screen.

After taking the "Does your phone fit your hand" test, I think I'm going for the 4.7" iPhone 6. No larger than that.

This hidden website in the above link gives views of the rumored iPhone 6, without/with a case on.

Looks very nice. Flat, so it lays flat on the table (I hate wobble when trying to use the phone as a calculator. But with rounded edges on the back and front.

Tons of renderings on the site.

Lol vf, it's not exactly a hidden site, it's one of the links in the CNET article.

I don't think a phone needs to be absolutely flat to prevent wobble, the Moto is curved just right, it is very comfortable to hold in and but not enough to cause any wobble when put on a flat surface.

There isn't anything too new in that article, but it's interesting to read these and I am looking forward to see what really gets launched.

I meant that the article didn't show any iPhone 6s rendering, but rather the 5S and 5C...and that one of the early rumors was that the iPhone 6 would have a plastic back like the 5C, so it could be a bit confusing for a quick glance ;)

My iPhone 3G and 3GS, had a curved back with definite wobble that was annoying. So I'm glad to see, based on rumor, that the iPhone 6 will not be a revert back to the 3G design.

Glad to hear your Moto X doesn't wobble. ;)

I found this OP post at macrumors interesting.

Speculation that the 4.7" iPhone 6 will be larger ( taller) than the Moto X and more like the HTC One (4.7") but less wide. .

Reason? The Touch ID button size will force the phone to be taller then required by the screen size. Also keeping the bezel symmetrical on the top.

Includes size comparisons with various phones and photos.

Personally I'm not to happy with that, but it makes sense. Will have to see how it comes out. Perhaps the bigger size ( more like a 5" phone) coupled with the smaller screen with give a bigger battery. Or maybe the thinner phone will negate that?

Take a look and see what you think. Thought it was interesting to share.
