It appears certain that the new iOS5 and either an iPhone 5 and/or an iPhone 4S will be announced next week, Oct 4th by Apple. Phone releases in mid October.

If any one is interested in my thoughts (from a devout Apple fan) here they are: Most likely I will not rush to get one, but wait a few months to the holiday season, or, most likely, wait until iPhone 6.

My reasons, have not to do with upgrade policies: I'm allowed to upgrade at anytime from my iPhone 4.

    1) Very pleased with the current performance of the iPhone 4: Most of the new features that I'm interested in will come with the iOS5 update. Battery life on the IP4 is the best in class for this genre; screen is outstanding quality, crisp, bright and great resolution.

    2) Form factor. Although I liked the 3G and 3GS curved back, I enjoy more the IP4 profile, with it squarish shape. It fits the hand well, and rests flat on my table, etc. The rumor is ( and today ATT received iPhone 5 cases that show a curved profile), that the iP5 is more like the 3GS series.

    3) If the iP5 is larger physically and with a larger screen, that is nice, but not enough for me to make a move. The size is quite good as it is.

    4) The iP5 is almost confirmed to be 3.5G with 21Mbps HSPA+ in markets that support it. That's an upgrade from 7+Mbps. I suppose the Verizon version will make out at 3.1 Mbps. Anyhow, most of my high speed browsing is via wifi, and the current speed is good enough. I'd wait for LTE, and even then, I'd worry about battery life degradation in a iP6.

    5) Have enough $$ invested in cases as it is...not ready to make a move to change that :)

    6) Memory. Today it is stated that there will be a 64GB version of the iPhone 5 or even 4S. I'm getting by fine with only 32GB.

Now there is a rumor that the iP5 must be used for the new voice recognition in iOS5. That is a shame. I would like that. I do have SIRI, Dragon and Vingo on the iP4: I like them, but rarely use them. so it is 50-50 for me.

So there it is. I will know more by next week if I missed something. But this time I willing to let others find and fix bugs with a new IPhone, not me.

It is getting harder and harder for mgfr to add real features to phones that are not gimmicks, to make me want to upgrade. I certainly do not want a massive handheld device to lug around in my pocket!

My thoughts. For me the iOS5 is the big news. I guess for others, there will now be 1 iPhone for both CDMA and WCDMA/GSM networks, and on more carriers (Sprint, ATT, Verizon) and maybe TMobile if ATT buys them (and I hope that they do).

One thing has not changed....I'm still an Apple fan, and not Android. ;) I do love the 'walled garden' with my MacBooks/iMacs. The word Paradise is derived from the eastern iranian language as 'walled garden', i.e. garden of eden :D Not ready yet to taste the forbidden fruit ( or green bug inside it).

So it is the 4S and it makes sense to me not to call it 5. There's really not enough technology out there to call it iPhone 5. When the digit increases is because something major is unveiled from the hardware standpoint. I believe the iPhone 5 will be LTE sometime next year.

Well i have heard that there are complaints regarding Siri, There are often complaints that this particular feature is not always functional. It often picks up outside levels of noise. This is clearly understandable when there is music in the background.
And about iphone 5....everyone is exited and waiting eagerly for it.Lets wait and watch..
