Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (MobilePhone SCP-5500/US/1.0) NetFront/3.0 MMP/2.0) I Was Asking Because My Wife Was Thinking About Applying For A Local Sales Rep Position. Just Wondering How They Treat People.
They used to be treated pretty well, I met all of the IPCS reps in Myrtle Beach three years ago, however since then, Airgate rolled over on IPCS and dumped allot of those people. I'm not sure if Alamosa purchased IPCS at the same time they purchased Airgate. Just make sure they fully explain the compensation plan, last I checked they were revenue based on based on number of lines sold. (So instead of having to sell a set number of lines per month you would have to sell a set dollar amount of revenue.) This could be good or bad depending on your market conditions. Tell them to let you see the prior year sales numbers for people in your prospective market.
Airgate kinda Spat out(spun off) IPCS after Sprint gave them $350 million (or so) in their settlement. IPCS was supposed to get the money but from what I heard Airgate took the money and then spun off IPCS. Anyway thanks for the advice, but my wife decided she doesnt want "that type of job".
Business Sales in wireless is tough, but once you are established in a particular market it does get easier. You have allot of freedom as to what you do and when. Just as long as you make your quota and are not getting customer complaints.
