Did anyone else notice the internet blackout or slowdown yesterday? I did certainty. Sites like CNN, Macrumors, NYTimes, and others where just not loading. Even little sites. Anyone else??? http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/22/b...l?smprod=nytcore-ipad&smid=nytcore-ipad-share Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
I had some problems with the Facebook app on my phone, but thought it was just because I was in a bad area.
It's been a massive problem for me in Chicago. It was out again this morning when I tried at 6am and it just came back up now at 8:10am, but I don't know for how long. Yesterday numerous sites were impossible to reach. The scary part noted in the article you linked is: "....And in a troubling development, the attack appears to have relied on hundreds of thousands of internet-connected devices like cameras, baby monitors and home routers that have been infected — without their owners’ knowledge — with software that allows hackers to command them to flood a target with overwhelming traffic...."
I take that back, there were some very short "internet not available messages" at work. We didn't make much of it.
I saw some sites not loading images or showing as all text and some other errors. I didn't notice any problems with this site.
Who was behind this? Russians? Samsung( trying to make every phone overheat), USA ( collateral damage while attacking Russia? I read that WikiLeaks asks its followers to stop DoS, although they didn't claim any responsibility. Perhaps they were affected too. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
There's a lot of crazy conspiracy theories out there. The one that makes the most sense was Ecuador cutting off Julian Assange's internet due to pressure from the U.S., but who knows.
This one does make the most sense. WikiLeaks has turned into the entities they have despised, interfering with people's rights outside their own domain. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...ine-Spotify-Twitter-sites-suffer-outages.html Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
Well, don't tell anyone, but "people are saying" that Trump actually tried to use a computer at 3AM. He is the best computer user, no one like him, absolutely awesome computer user.
Had some more slowness today, but only on Facebook. On a side note, I got a notification that someone tried to login to my Yahoo account from Belarus today. I decided to activate 2 step verification since I rarely use my Yahoo mail anyway.
