Hi walkguru, in what way does it help with the 6682? A 3G SIM should not have any effect on a non 3G phone. Do you have a Cingular branded 6682? The only people that have benefited from the 3G in the 6682 are the one's with the Cingualr branded 6682 which had the "copying SIM" and erasing call log problems. Just curious....
Cool, I'll keep that in mind if I get a V3x. I wonder if you could at least put your 2G SIM in and copy your contacts to the phone, so you don't have to re-enter them. -Jay
Jay, I was told by Nokia that yes I can copy the contacts from my 2G. I am planning to do this when I get the N80. I would think I can use the 2G in a 3G for basic calls also but......>
well, it sure helps with mine, i dont lose my contacts list anymore, and it doesnt ask me to copy from sim to phonebook anymore.
Hey, I just asked you about this couple of posts back. Your situation is pretty unique, you have one of the best phones in today's market messed up by Cingular's software in combination with the standard 64K SIM. So it would make sense that any new SIM that Cingular markets, eg the the 3G SIM, would also take care of the problem with the 6682. If I understand it right, for those of us like Steven, Jay, myself and all others whose phones were not messed up by the providers's software, the 3G SIM would do nothing to a non-3G phone. Hope I made some sense......
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: Nokia6682/2.0 (3.01.1) SymbianOS/8.0 Series60/2.6 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0) Im sorry i missed your post. As far as i know the 3 g sim works as normal in a peg. Phone.
LOL, my software wasn't "messed up" by Cingular, but I did end up undoing some of the changes Cingular made anyway. BTW I have a 32k SIM. -Jay

I have a 32K SIM also, which is why I never had a problem with my Cingular branded 6682. The only reason I got rid of it was I needed an unlocked phone and Cingular refused to unlock it.
Thanks! Seem editing is highly addictive. I don't think there is any turning back now. I'd hate using a stock phone now that I have my phone totally customized now. -Jay
Cingular refused to unlock it? I thought as long as you had been a customer for 90 days or more and had International Roaming turned on for your account they would unlock it. That blows.
Maybe refused to, was too harsh. I tried about 6 times over a period of 2 months to get it unlocked and I always got an automated E Mail back saying "the phone was too new, and there was no unlock code for and they would keep my request on file". I called Nokia and they said Cingular was the only one who could provide an unlock code. On the outside there aren't any unlocking available for the 66XX series of phones as of yet. So I gave up and bought an unlocked one.
Will it matter which sim card I have if I get a V635? I am waiting for my new unlocked phone in the mail beofre I make the switch. I want to make sure I don't have any issues/regrets when I make the jump. Your help is appreciated.
