Most Cell & landline exchanges are listed.
It will also tell you the city/state/county the number is in.

InfoSpace already lets users match a (landline) telephone number to an address (reverse lookup).
And there is no daily limit. It's an online phonebook, only better now.

    Really interesting...

    ...

When you enter their website, click "search by phone" on the left.
Then enter the number in the "Reverse phone lookup" section.
If the number is unlisted, or is a cellular phone, then it will tell you about the number & who owns it.

Note, if you enter the number in the "Unlisted & Cell Phone Search" section,
then it will prompt you to pay for other more detailed info (Intelius)

    ...

Here's and example of a lookup for 864-812-xxxx:

    Phone Company Information Found

    Location: Gaffney, SC
    County: Cherokee
Provider: Alltel Communications, Inc. - Sc
    Phone Type: Wireless
    Time Zone: EST

Lots of other sites do this as well. Telcodata.US: Welcome! gives all that information and more.

Correct, Telcodata.us has had that data for a long time. The only problem now is due to (W)LNP. Those sites will only tell you the original owner of the block.

THat's why I use www.wirelessamberalerts.org because it's the only site that can keep up with number portability. It doesn't matter if the customer has ported their number, you will get their new (correct) carrier. Infospace, on the other hand, gives you the old/original carrier owner of the number.

Sorry to just bring this up without notice. This just happened:

    Speaking about number portability,
I just found out the VoIP provider SunRocket has gone bankrupt, laid off all their employees,
and is pretty much finished, without notice (as of 7-16-07).

SunRocket (was) the 2nd largest VoIP provider (after Vonage).

Is their a way to port my (former) SunRocket VoIP number?....
Theres no way I can access my service. It's literally like everything "SunRocket" is Disintegrating very fast.

I just really hope that my number can be ported...... :crying: Can anyone help?

OMG! That's awful! I didn't know SunRocket was in trouble. I hope Vonage can stay afloat.

I give it one more year of life Verizon is going to make sure that competition is gone so they can steal us blind.

I really hope nothing happens to Vonage either, I hope Verizon does not win the suit, which in my opinion is a way to stifle competition.
I guess AT&T's VoIP uses a different technology or has the rights from Verizon to use the patents (which may have belonged to AT&T thru Bell Labs 1st)

I decided to goto Vonage and get a (609) NJ number.
Area code 609 signature/virtual numbers were not offered by SunRocket.

    ...

BTW, SunRocket emailed us recommending other providers such as Packet8 and TeleBlend

There is no history on Teleblend. Their website has only existed for about 3 days!
I think it's spam, or it's another "fly by night" company.

;) Sure will. If SunRocket didn't make it, I wonder how others (below them) could.

    ...

I know exactly where the Vonage building is in Holmdel, NJ..One of the most expensive places to own property in NJ.
So they must be good (hopefully Vonage won't go broke with those extremely high property taxes, LOL :D)
