Hello, Does anyone know of any Sprint PCS, inexpensive unlimited prepaid services in Los Angeles? I don't want to pay through the roof and I'm sure there are decent deals out there. Thanks. C.
There are decent deals out there, but you won't find any unlimited prepaid services from Sprint. They don't sell prepaid service at all, especially not unlimited. MetroPCS is the only carrier I know of that sells unlimited airtime. Their network is definitely the worse for it.
One of the prepaid companies that has sort of a "unlimited" plan is Boost Mobile, but you have to be talking to another Boost Mobile person to take advantage of their Unlimited Walkie Talkie for $1.50/day I believe. Like TProphet said there aren't any "unlimited prepaid services" that have a good nationwide coverage area. I believe that most prepaid services like 7-Eleven and Simple Freedom charge between $0.20 to $0.25 per minute.
The only two carriers I know of that offer a unlimited plan are Cricket & Dobson/CellOne. Both are local plans & not PrePay, both don't have service in LA. BTW loudnoize, :welcome: to WA!
There are no unlimited wireless plans in Los Angeles at any price, period. Cingular/AT&T don't have unlimited plans. Verizon don't have unlimited plans. Sprint don't have unlimited plans (nor does Virgin Mobile). Nextel has (had?) unlimited incoming calls but I'm pretty sure Boost doesn't. T-Mobile don't have unlimited plans. And MetroPCS and Cricket don't offer service in Los Angeles.
Hey guys, Thanks for the warm welcome and your info as well. I figured their may not be a decent, if any, unlimited plan. Well, in your experience, what would be the least expensive prepaid plan? Any suggestions? Also, would anyone know why a service like Cricket is not available in a city like L.A.? Thanks again...C.
Actually Nextel offers a unlimited calling plan, although it's not cheap. It's also a post paid plan. National Unlimited NDC Plus: $199.99 A Month Unlimited Anytime Cellular Minutes Unlimited Direct Connect Minutes Unlimited Nationwide Direct Connect Access Unlimited Domestic Long Distance Unlimited Text Messaging Unlimited Roaming Voicemail, Caller ID, Call Waiting, and 3 Way Calling included
Virgin Mobile has really good pricing, $0.25 for the first 10 minutes & $0.10 after that (per day). T-Mobile To Go is a straight $0.25 a minute And if you know a lot of AT&T/Cingular users. Cingular offers a M2M of $0.10 per minute on their pre-paid plan (KIC). But calling any one else it will be $0.35 per minute. Also Cingular offers their "Take Charge" plans which are pre-pay, but act like post paid. http://onlinestoreb.cingular.com/we...aid Plans&curCategoryName=PRP_TAKECHARGE PLAN
Well Yugopro, somewhere in the $50/month range. I know it isn't much but I'm on a budget. Thanks. C. ps... thanks for your responses. I appreciate it.
The Cingular "Take Charge" plans are the equivalent of AT&T's GoPhone plans it seems. They're actually not a bad deal at all if you ask me and they do have unlimited nights & weekends. Watch out if you like text messaging though, as they'll nail you for $0.10 per msg.
This plan also includes International Direct Connect Access from the Countries with iDen networks (Mexico, Canada, Brazil, ect...) for $.20 per minute. You are only charged per second with Direct Connect, so if these are areas where you travel a lot, this would be a good option for cheaper communications via the DC...
Cingular's take charge plans are actually pretty good for prepaid. Cingular is also running a promo right now online where you can get the Sony Ericsson T237 for only $29.99 on Take Charge with no contract to sign or credit check to be ran. Below is a Take Charge Plan that you might like. Take Charge $49.99 A Month Rate Plan Up To 400 Anytime Minutes Unlimited Nights & Weekends Voicemail, Call Waiting, Caller ID, Long Distance, and 3 way calling included. As Cryogenic meantioned be careful with Text Messaging on Take Charge as it is 10 cents per message sent/received. Wireless internet is also availiable at 1 cent per kb. Take Charge only works on the Cingular/AT&T Wireless network but that shouldn't be a problem for most people as they have a very large digital network now. If you consider Take Charge though please check their prepaid map closely to see if the coverage will be enough for you. Cingular Take Charge Coverage Map
You can still get the AT&T GoPhone. I like it better than Take Charge. Check out Dave Markson's PrePaid Phone Comparison page for all your options. You don't want the cheapest, you want the most peak minutes. There are no Unlimited services in L.A. like Cricket. One of the cheapest, per-minute all around pre-paid plans is SpeakOut from a 7-Eleven store, and their minutes are good for a year!
I do agree that the GoPhone is a better deal than TakeCharge, but I wasn't sure if it was still available in his area. I do know they still sell it around here, but not living out in the west I can't speak for them. My friend has a GoPhone and likes it quite a bit. Plus he has the ability to cancel whenever he pleases with no penalty.
Thanks again guys. This is such an informative forum. I guess my best choices seem to be GoPhone or Take Charge. Wonder if Cricket will ever make it to L.A. CL
Not likely... they'd have to buy spectrum there and spectrum in such a large metro area is NOT cheap at all. Lets not forget that there's no spectrum available in the LA market to my knowledge... on top of that, Leap Wireless just filed bankruptcy not too long ago (they call it chapter whatever reorganization). I don't think they're in much of a position to be pursuing any large markets in the near future.
