Back in December when we went to Wausau by taking I 94 to I 39N. There was very good coverage for both Cingular & Verizon until Portage. Shortly after Portage the coverage on Cingular dropped off completely until just before Stevens Point and then maintained solid coverage all the way to Wausau. The Verizon phone basically had some coverage all along the trip. When we went there this weekend, there was solid Cingular coverage(6230)all along the entire route, even where Verizon (3589i) had only a couple of bars. So, Cingular must have done a lot of improvements in the last 3 months in this area. Thank you Cingular and keep improving the coverage.
Thanks for the coverage map. The section I was referring to on Hwy 39 is shown as future coverage so that coverage must now be complete.
Could this be 1900 MHz since T-Mobile shows a roaming coverage and shows it complete too. But T-Mobile shows no coverage after Wausau like rte 64 and rte 8.
Hi agent, I should have been more clear. I should have said "I got GSM coverage where I did not have any in December".You are right, it is not Cingular. I got Einstein PCS at Wausau and North but in that section of I-39, I got "I Cellular (?)" when I did *611. Do you know who it could be? Jones, it could be 1900, I am not sure how to tell that on the 6230, I can only tell when I am on native Cingular and when I am roaming with a partner. Sorry about that. I was so happy that I got coverage with my Nokia 6230 that I got a little confusing. :O
Did your handset show "GPRS" available? If you did not have GPRS, it was most certainly Einstein (310-640). Einstein STILL does not have GPRS. I have a seem edited V551 which lets me see all available networks with network ID's and alpha tags from tower. Next time I drive through that area I will be able to let you know for sure. regards Hman
I think it did show GPRS but now I am not so sure, I was just too thrilled to see the fantastic coverage. That will be great if you can post who Cingular was roaming with.....Thanks
