A friend of mine just got an iPhone after using Android forever. She activated iMessage and all her messages to me come in as iMessages. They are delivered to my MBP and iPhone as expected. Every reply to her from my iPhone sends as a text message and if I reply from my computer she never gets the message. What might cause this?
Not sure. Start by checking that what she has checked in Settings under iMessage. Is she starting conversations from the phone # or an email? Has she checked to receive iMessage from both email and phone # She might have check 'start an iMessage' from one place, but not allowed receiving from the same place. Just a thought.
It started working about 8pm with no intervention. Perhaps just a delay with Apple's system updating on my end?
No clue. I've seen it recognize a new iMessage person in less than a minute. Who knows what went in that day. Hope it keeps working. Got a feeling it will. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk Pro
To avoid starting a new thread. I have been experiencing freeze ups at times, when attaching a photo in iMessage.
Can you say more what a freeze up is? iPhone freezing or message not being sent or very slow? Or is it a failed sending that you have to try again. Could be a function on the poor wifi, or poor cellular signal. Sent from my iPad mini using Tapatalk Pro
If I attach a photo in iMessage. When I add the senders name, that is as far as I get. I cannot add a text to the photo, or even hit send. It's like the phone freezes, and I have to close out the message.
Idk. I couldn't replicate the problem. Tried SMS on and off, entering senders name first and then last and sending photo from iMessage or photo library. All worked fine. So try these two things. In settings/iMessage turn iMessage off and then back on Reboot phone. Off/ on I assume MMS is on? Vf Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk Pro
Thanks VF. I should have tried your method first. I did a soft reset, which did not work. I'll keep an eye on it, if it does it again. I will be taking another field trip to Apple. Maybe something going on with the phone, which would be new. They claim the phone checked out fine, on their diagnostics.
As Forest Gump said, "Shxt Happens" It probably won't come back. More likely an Apple account/server issue. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk Pro
