Illinois treasurer suing Sprint for $2.7 million in unclaimed rebates

I am actually glad someone is doing this and it's just not Sprint. You send in a rebate, you don't receive it, so you call the company offering the rebate and they wash their hands of it saying you have to call the rebate processing company. The number you get for the rebate processing company either goes unanswered, or you leave a message and never get a return call, or the number has been disconnected.

The only recent mail-in rebate I remember being concerned about was directly from Samsung on my Note3. It took months before it came and, true to form, my repeated attempts to inquire about it went unanswered.

The last rebate I did was a $30 rebate for my AT&T DSL modem about 5 - 7 years ago. When I called AT&T about it, they washed their hands of it and gave me a number for the rebate center. When I called the rebate center numerous times, they never answered.

Guess it demonstrates that if the deal is only good with a rebate, it may not actually be a good deal. caveat emptor
